Chapter 3

Future Trunks stepped out of his time machine, and cursed violently.  Something had tampered with the settings, and he was now very, very far away from home.

He surveyed his surroundings carefully, looking for a sign of where he may be.  The sky was a deep red, although the sun was high on the horizon.  The desert itself was a mud-red, with large rock structures strewn across the landscape.  Out of nowhere, a voice called

"DUCK!!!!"  Trunks turned towards the warning voice, and found himself staring at a growing ball of light.

"When I say 'duck' that means get down, you accursed human!!!"  the voice repeated, and something collided with him, pushing him from the ki attack's path.  An answer shot was fired, and the smell of burnt flesh came from the direction of the attack.  Trunks felt himself being hauled up by his collar and dragged to the shelter of a near by rock formation.  The woman that had just saved his life turned an enraged eye his way.  "What in the name of the gods was that??  Haven't you idiot humans learned that getting between two fighting Saiyajins means DEATH?!?!"

"Well, considering I'm the closest thing my world has to a Saiyajin, there's only the one of me, and I'm still pretty confident I could take me down, no, no I didn't "know" that," Trunks said, staring down the Saiyajin in front of him and trying to keep from freaking out.  How the hell far back did he go?!?!  Wait.  " did you call me a human?" he asked.  The woman stared at him, a mix between frustration and suspicion on her face.

"Yes.  What, have you humans now forgotten what happened?  Do I need to remind you that your planet was destroyed and for some unfathomable reason most of the population was moved here on order of the prince," she said, the last word causing her scowl.

"But this is impossible!!"  Trunks couldn't stop himself from saying.  If I had gone back in time to when Vegetasei was still around, there would be no general knowledge of the planet Earth.  Goku wouldn't have left yet, or if he had wouldn't have reached the planet.  Even then there would be no refugees, he thought.  What have I done?  Where am I?? "I - this can't be right.  I was supposed to be going home.  I was not supposed to end up in some alternate universe, or wherever this is!!" Trunks raged.

At this the woman's expression shifted from rage to shock.  "Alternate dimension? What do you mean?"

Shit.  Now I'm stuck in another dimension, and everyone thinks I'm insane.  Wonderful. He sighed, and resigned himself to his fate.  "Well, I was in another dimension where two androids nearly killed the entire human population.  To try and stop them I went back in time, and warned the people in that time.  It set up another time-line, and the androids didn't kill anyone there.  I was trying to get home and stop them in my timeline now that I'm stronger, but I wound up here instead."

Whatever reaction Trunks was expecting, it was not the look of knowing relief that the woman fixed on him.  "Oh, well don't worry too much!  We may not be able to get ourselves back, but my friends and I have gotten quite good at sending others back where they belong."  She tapped the scouter on her ear, and started speaking.  "Cham, it's Sarris.  We have another traveler.  I'll be bringing him by I highly doubt it; I don't think he even knows who our charge is I am not too trusting!! oh very well, come here instead then, but bring him with, it wouldn't do any good with no one on guard, even if he is off planet got it, Sarris out.  Well, it seems your problem will be cleared up rather quickly."

Seconds later a girl of about 12 and a boy of about eight materialized right in from of me. "Hey. YOUR NOT SARRIS!"

The woman who had dragged me back here made a face, "That would be because I am behind you Cham."  The girl who I would assume was Cham turned.

"Well, what have you found this time!"

"You were just looking at him."

During the interchange I looked at the boy that had arrived with Cham.   I was amazed to find that he looked much like I did when I was that age.  Though he had short black spiky hair, which he was adjusting the spikes of.  "I didn't think that saiyajins could adjust where their spikes were," I commented off handedly.  Both of the girls turned to me abruptly and glared.

"What are you trying to imply with that statement you purpley limp haired human?!?"  The girl growled at me.

"Hey, I wasn't implying anything!  And I am only half human!"

"HALF HUMAN!  The only half human around here-" she cut off abruptly her teeth clicking together.  "Is you."  The boy shook his head and rolled his eyes.

"Of which you probably shouldn't tell anyone.  They don't take kindly to your kind."  He wandered over to a rock sat down and began to readjust the positions of his spikes again.

The woman cleared her throat, "Well, we should return you to our base.  There we can determine what dimension you are from and whether or not we can return you to it.  By the way what are you called?"

"Eh?  I'm Trunks.  And you are?"

"Sarris," the older girl said.

"Chamomil.  Or Cham, if you prefer," the younger said.

"I am Toranksu, the boy said, still staring up at his hair.  The girls looked at each other momentarily, then to Toranksu and I.

"You know," Sarris began, "you two look sort of- OW!" she cut off abruptly after a well-placed kick to the back of the knee landed here on the floor. Cham glared at her.  "Um hungry?  Yes, saiyajins are always hungry, aren't they?  But you look extraordinarily hungry.  It must be a half-saiyajin thing.  We'd best get back to base and get some kind of food.  So, who's with me?" she said in one rushed phrase.

Cham sighed.  "Yes, back to base.  We wouldn't want to run the risk of our charge getting eaten.  Please, follow me."
