| The Internet, especially the World Wide Web, provides the Enid School District with unique and ever-changing ways with which to interact with the Enid community and improve student learning. It allows us as an individual school to provide current and complete information to our community at large, it gives the Enid community a means to communicate effectively with school personnel, it creates expanded means for student expression, and it provides new avenues for teachers to help students meet high standards of performance. The Internet therefore brings together a variety of school-related functions that were previously completely separate. Statement of purpose The primary purpose of the Waller web site is to communicate effectively with the Enid community. The principal or a designee shall determine the content of the site consistent with this policy and ensure that the site is maintained in such a way that the Enid community receives reasonably current and accurate information. | There are legal restrictions on smoking in school or on the school grounds. There are also restrictions on using drugs, including alcoholic beverages. None of these activities help your learning, and they often cause behavior that is not helpful to receiving a good education. On a practical basis, we ask you not to bring food or drink or chew gum at school or in the classroom. Finish your food at lunch before you go out to the black top area. We will be opening the Coke and Candy machines at the end of each lunch period daily for students who are not on any detentions. The coke and candy machines will also be open at the end of school each day. This service will continue as long as students pick up the black top area and not take Cokes or candy back into the school. Above all, everyone at Waller Junior High School has a right to be secure in his or her mind, body, and property. We should respect each other and each others property. There is to be no fighting in the school, school activities, or on the grounds. Law enforcement officials will be contacted for any acts of threats of violence that occur on school property during or after school hours. Acts of threats include fighting, gross misbehavior, harassment, and physical assault. An act of violence at school is an act of violence in our community. Nothing can happen between two people at this school that cannot be settled in a rational, peaceful, adult, productive way. We have counselors, peer mediators, administrators, teachers, and other people willing to help. Violence and vandalism are illegal, impractical, and inhumane. Have a good year. We appreciate your efforts and hope you find the days ahead to be your best ones you have had at school so far. Let us continue our celebration of forty-one years of excellence and tradition at Waller Junior high by making this the best school year ever. Good luck. |
| Because Waller Junior High School is attended by people who are capable of taking responsibility, it should not be necessary for us to have a large number of dos and donts for the safe operation of the school. There are a few rules, however, where the need is obvious, some that are legal restrictions, and others that are just plain common sense. The thinking student will know what is right and what is wrong, what is appropriate and what is inappropriate for our school. Attendance at Waller Junior High School is for the purpose of obtaining an education. This requires full attendance at all classes, coming to class on time, and using every minute productively. Always have the tools, books, pencils, and notebooks required for class. Radios played indiscriminately around the school are a disturbing factor. Therefore, you are not to bring radios, tape recorders, pagers, or electronic devices to school. If they are brought to school, they will be taken and kept in the principals office until the end of the semester. |
