My Friend

Probably, my close friend is my cousin. Her name is Tarah Joanah Sabordo Montecillo and we have known each other since we were 4 years old. If I were to describe her, I would say she is very friendly. She has long brown hair, brown almond-shaped eyes, small nose and a small pointed chin. She is not very tall but not short either and she is quite slim. She doesnt like to dress up so I usually see her wearing jeans and a t-shirt. It seems like she and I are always talking or laughing about something. She has a very nice personality and a wonderful sense of humor but she can also get a little depressed from time to time. I can always count on her to be honest and to give me the best advice. We are both interested in many of the same hobbies. We both enjoy music, playing the guitar and singing. We like going to the cinema but sometimes cannot agree on which movie to see. Sometimes, we just walk around, trying to find a new area of the city to explore. Whatever were doing, its always fun to be with her.

Optimist vs. Pessimist

Broadly speaking, people can be categorized as being generally optimistic or pessimistic. Optimistic people are noted for their ability to see the good in everything, viewing the world as a place full of adventure and opportunity. Optimistic individuals are more likely to extract the positives from every experience compared to their pessimistic counterparts. Even in the face of adversity, the optimist is able to focus on the grains of thinking.

On the other hand, pessimistic people meet life with a sense of futility, viewing the world with a certain level of cynicism and negativity. Throughout history, the pessimistic disposition has had effects on all major areas of thinking.

I am an optimistic person. This is because I tend to persevere in the face of difficulties. I believe that everything seems to look good as long as you are an optimistic person. Everybody likes you-or at least you think so. You look like you are happy. You are more likely to begin a new venture even if optimism will probably disguise its state from your vision. I also believe that optimistic person is significantly more likely to stay healthier and longer when compared with the pessimistic system.

Jesus Is Coming Very Soon: Are You Ready?

In the days of Noah, people were carrying on with their worldly lives, ignoring God’s call and when the flood came, they were not prepared and it took them away and destroyed them. The same will happen to the world when Jesus will return at the second coming. And now, it’s time for the world to wake up from sleeping, including the majority of the Christians. We are now in the last days and it’s time for us to prepare as a bride, for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

The second coming is when Jesus Christ will return to earth in fulfillment of His promises and to fulfill the prophecies made about Him. Jesus promised in the Bible in the book of Matthew chapter 24:30 that, “At that time the sign of Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.” The second coming is the literal return of Jesus Christ to the earth as King in power and glory to rule for a thousand years. Christ’s first coming was to stand in our place and sacrifice Himself for us to be saved from our sins, but His second coming will defeat sin for all eternity.

Many Bible teachers today have guesses as to when the second coming will occur. Others predicted that the year 2012 will be the end of the world but they have all been incorrect. The Bible declares, “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. However, prior to the return of Jesus Christ to the earth, God is showing wonders in the heaven and signs on the earth below in order for us to be fully prepared. We are to anticipate the second coming, but have a biblical understanding of it. We are not to set dates and times, but live our lives as if it could happen any day or any moment.

The signs we see tell us we are living close to the second coming of Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “At the time of the end, many shall run to and from, and knowledge shall increase.” In Matthew chapter 24, it says that, “Nation will rise against nation, there will be famines and earthquakes and many false prophets shall arise.” Every person must know this and decide whether to accept and believe Jesus or not.

This world is going to be destroyed in the second coming of Christ Jesus. If you have anything in your life that is holding you back from giving your all for Jesus, then let it go today. Don’t let the cares of this world spoil your relationship with Him, let go of this world and give your all to Him today. There’s no time to waste, get ready!

Music is My Passion and My Life

As I lift my head and part my lips, my voice escalates with every note that resonate the air. The soothing words bounce off my tongue and release the tension within. The tune that tantalizes my ears helps me make it through the day because of its comforting presence. I believe that singing is not just an art; it's a means of expressing one's emotions. Thus my passion for singing, coupled with my love for music comes from deep within my soul, mind and heart. When I sing, I sing with all of me, putting everything I can into it, and that's exactly what makes me feel complete.

I have always had a great passion for singing. From the time I could speak my first words, I was singing! Although singing in front of others had a pure sense of joy pulsing through my veins, in my own time, singing has always been way of blocking out all my worldly worries. It is one thing that I feel strongly about, knowing that I have attained the skills with perfect ease, as if it has always been there within my soul, only left for me to discover. From a very early age, I wanted to and have to quite an extent, attain a strong understanding of the use of tune, rhythm and beats, how to pace up, where to pause and breathe. My sensible approach and proficiency has made everyone appreciate my voice and my flair very much. My urge to become a singer, grew stronger with each passing day.

Realizing the prospect of my potential, my mother admitted me into an institution where I learned singing for four years. Appreciating almost all forms of music, ranging from classical to rock, I have ended up taking rigorous courses in classical music. Once I had mastered the basics, I took a step further and enhanced my skills by practicing the various and intricate "raag" and applying them wherever I felt was appropriate. Music has given me a way out of 'my box', helped me through whatever has come my way. Through music, I have also been able to reach out to people of my community. I have been given the opportunity to teach the basics in a school for the underprivileged children. They learnt it fairly well and became fond of my style; soon I was asked to take their academic classes. Being an initiator, I always presented keen interest in making handicrafts, teaching, debating and this opportunity serves just the purpose. During my brief time with them I was able to come in close encounters, with about the hardships these children go through, the difficulties that they have to face everyday. It made me realize that we can't always decide our fates, but only hope that the world has a place for our dreams. . I had a great time teaching them, and learning those aspects of life I had not acknowledged before. I realized how these people; get through each day that brings with it, countless difficulties. They made me count my blessings, and I was grateful that music had led me there.

As I approached my senior years in school, pressure was building up and academics became my first and only priority. The more I concentrated on my studies, the more I felt my passion slip out of my fingers. And before I knew it I had to leave my music school. There grew a distance I could not cross, a barrier that made my dreams seem far-fetched for lack of practice made matters worse. The ease with which I could sing seemed to have evaporated into thin air.... But like they say, "When fate closes one door, it opens countless others'. Before long I came across teacher who truly and genuinely appreciated my singing, the very first time that he heard me. He revived the strength and the faith that I had once lost. I met him again, and he told me how music has always been a huge part of his life, and that it was his sheer love for music and his ability to sing that set him apart. Again it was music that bridged all gaps between me and a person I barely knew. It can and has connected minds just the way it linked ours. It has the potential to bring together people of all ages and races. I am overwhelmed to be able to realize that music is and has always been an indispensable part of me. It has quite righteously and consistently proven to be my greatest strength. I believe that one day it will take me to great heights and make my dream of making it the strongest unifying force in the world come true; uniting races and times, no matter how distant and how long. I have faith in the immense power of music, just like it has always had an inexplicably strong faith in me and hope these experiences to aid me in leading a successful and fulfilling future.

High School Life and College Life

High school life and college life are like salt and sugar. They look alike but, in fact, they totally differ in taste.

First, we obtain different information and knowledge. In high school, we are instructed with every aspect of knowledge and concentrate mostly on textbooks; while in college we specialize in a certain subject and should not to confine ourselves to the knowledge on the textbooks. We are supposed to broaden our knowledge by different channelsXsuch as doing researches and brainstorming discussions. In high school, we purely recite poems and formulas to finish examination. In college, however, we learn how to employ our knowledge to apply to practicalities.

Second, activities held in college are more than in high school. For example, there are frequent sports games and contests that can be held almost everyday. Though these various activities, we can achieve happiness and knowledge and enhance sociability as well. On the contrary, at high school, activities are seldom held. Most of our time is occupied by the study of different subjects.

Third, although we attend lectures everyday in both high school and college, we have different ways to study. In high school, teachers play an important role in our education. We depend mostly on teachers. By contrast, teachers change into supporting roles in college. As a result, in high school we can get high marks by remembering what key points teachers have said during classes. But, in college we decide what the key point is, solve problems or find answers by ourselves.

In conclusion, high school is a place to absorb fundamental knowledge whereas college is a place to learn independence. Study at high school and study at college are two important journeys in our lives, but the former is like joining a package tour. What we do and go is arranged by tour guides and schedules. On the other hand, the latter is more like joining an individual travel. We decide which way we go and what we like to do.
