What is a Master?
A Master is an extension of a Dominant male; A Mistress is an extension of a Dominant female. I am just going to refer to the Master here, but remember, this also applies to the Mistress.
Basically, you take a Dom, give Him years of experience and even more knowledge in the D/s lifestyle and you have a Master. To be titled a Master, it takes many years alot of resources and countless experiences pertaining to and with submissives and slaves. A Master takes full advantage of the power He has obtained, but knows how to share the pleasure that comes from that powerfull knowledge and control. He is traditional enough to be a bit of a chauvinist, yet modern enough to respect His submissive or slave. The Master is well experienced in all aspects of the D/s lifestyle and in BDSM, including safety. This is what I call a true (real) Master.
Many submissives or slaves in the lifestyle will call their Dom "Master", once they recieve His collar. This is just a name given to Him to show His ownership over His submissive or slave.   This is not the "Type" of master I am talking about. If it were based on that (just placing a collar on a girl), Master's could be as inexperienced as they like. A true Master is well experienced and practiced.
Many will claim to be a Master, but have only been in the lifestyle for a short while, and/or have never even had any real time experience, these are what I (and many others) call wannabe's and I feel they can be quite dangerous, intentional or unintentional.
A true Master does have plenty of experience and immence amounts of knowledge, but He is always willing and open enough to learn new things.
Let me clarify quickly between a true Master and a wannabe. A wannabe gets his title by taking it, a true Master gets His title by earning it.
