All breedings done at Sheldane are for the purpose of show potential quality. But there are those in EVERY litter that don't quite fall into the "show" potential catagory. Those are meant for that perfect person/family who want to own a "Gentle Giant" or a Sweet Setter but not on a competitive level. That's where our "pet" babies take a piece of your heart. They need just as much love and attention as any other dog, but they're just looking to be couch potatoes and enjoy being your pet.
Here's a hidden little secret in the dog world....not all show potential puppies can be picked at 8wks...meaning....there are a lot of "pet" puppies that mature into that "Outstanding Show Potential Puppy". Each puppy posesses it own qualities, some that just out weigh the others(and that can just be a breeders preference). This doens't mean that a "pet" puppy is any less of a dog. It only means that we, as breeders, can't keep everything. We do hold back as many as we can, until the ultimate decision has to be made, that is why you may find older puppies available, we just couldn't make up our minds!
