A Better Tomorrow

I was on a real downer when I wrote this one. This is going to sound as if I’m male bashing; I’m not. There are some very wonderful men out there, and I’m proud to call a lot of them, my friend. But, there are some real stinkers, too. A friend of mine, who has asked to remain nameless, went through hell with her man. But, eventually, she found the courage to leave him, and start again. She now has a better tomorrow, but many women don’t. They don’t know where to turn for help, or who to trust. If you are in that position, good luck to you. I hope that you make it. I hope that there is a better tomorrow around the corner for you all. This poem is dedicated to the courage, and bravery of abused women everywhere.

A Better Tomorrow.
By Amanda Jay Clark.

When today turns into tomorrow,
I’m hoping to wake up and find,
A world that’s a little bit nicer,
Than the one today left behind.

A better tomorrow for women,
Where her value is recognised.
Where she isn’t taken for granted
And her wishes are realised.

A world where her voice is listened to,
And she’s given the right to think.
Instead of waiting on mankind,
Chained to the kitchen sink.

A world where women are equal,
Not judged on beauty or shape.
Where she can walk down the road in safety,
And not live in fear of rape.

A world where disease is no killer,
And violence is no threat.
Where she’s safe to raise her children,
Without constant fear and fret.

A world where drugs are forgotten,
And dreams really do come true.
Where we live in peace and harmony,
All our tomorrow’s through.

A world where pain is a stranger,
And suffering is no more.
But I know when I wake in the morning,
It’ll all be the same as before!

We will have no better tomorrow,
Unless we make changes now.
Work for our future together,
And make a better world our vow.
