The Power Of Dreams

I have three recurring dreams that are so dull that I won’t bore you with the details. But the dreams that really drive me mad, are the crazy ones that don’t make any sense at all. I Have them a lot. You know the sort of thing I mean. One minute, you are on a donkey, the next you are on a boat. Why? If dreams are supposed to mean something, then I dread to think what my dreams are all about. I have better dreams when I’m awake!!! If you have a recurring dream, or a lot of nonsense ones, why not tell me, and I’ll write you a poem about them.

The Power Of Dreams.
By Amanda Jay Clark.

What is the power behind a dream?
Do they ever really come true?
Where do the images come from?
And where are they going to?
Some people dream of passion.
Romance with their partner of choice.
Others dream of great fortune.
And things to make them rejoice.

Not me. I dream of a donkey,
That suddenly turns into a train.
Next thing I know, we are crashing.
We get hit by a falling plane.
After that, I’m in a phone box.
But there is no phone inside.
It’s just bobbing about on the sea,
Sailing the oceans wide.

Next comes the man with the gun,
He’s aiming it at my head.
Any second, he’s going to fire,
But I know he won’t shoot me dead.
I try to escape, but can’t move.
My legs are made out of lead.
Then I hear the alarm clock ringing,
And wake up safely in bed.

Why are my dreams so confusing?
Why are they never full of romance?
Why is there no gentle music?
Or being held while we dance?
Thank God for imagination.
Now I am going to take,
A night or two off from sleeping,
I have better dreams when I’m awake!
