In My Day
I am useless with computers. Anything more complicated than a video recorder, and Im stuck. I got a computer a couple of years ago, but I still dont know how it really works. Actually, its only been these last few months that Ive decided to throw away my trusty old typewriter, and have a serious go at getting to grips with this thing. How am I doing? My twelve year old instructor says Im doing just fine! Only kidding. I dont have an instructor, but if I did, whats the betting it would be a twelve year old kid who would look on me, and make me feel like a dinosaur! Im sure that kids born today have one end of their umbilical cord connected to a computer. They seem to be born with the knowledge of how to use them. Well folks, I am making a serious effort now. If like me, you are a computer neophyte, e-mail me, and maybe we can learn, together.
In My Day.
By Amanda Jay Clark.
In my day, things were
much simpler,
And Im not going back very far.
These days with the chip and computer,
No one knows quite where they are.
We had a telly and record player,
But no video, or CD,
There was no such thing as the Internet,
That scares the hell out of me!
What is this data processor,
To be found at our finger tips?
In my day, to find information,
You formed a question with your lips.
Or you went to the public library,
To read a book, or two.
But these days with the super highway,
Information finds its way to you.
Ive had a computer for two years now,
Though I still dont know how it works,
But Im told if I really study,
Ill find many writers perks.
Is a computer big brother watching me?
Thats just one of the problems Im seeing,
Im having trouble with this modern age,
I must be older than I admit being!
How can I face the future,
If I cant cope with what I have now?
I must find a cure my phobia?
To keep the sweat from wrinkling my brow.
What will we have in the future?
I hardly dare to think.
But if I dont keep up with technology,
Instead of swimming, Ill sink!
