“D” SERIES REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS.

Are you having trouble with your rear shock absorbers?

·        Can’t keep them full of oil ?

·        The oil is leaking/spraying all round the underside of the car?

·        The rear end “dances” all over the road on rough surfaces?

·        There is uneven wear to your tyres?

·        Maybe you have broken a rear spring?

Well then your shock absorbers are “shot”. sm_shock.gif

The bad news is:-   rear ones are a ‘bad’ shock absorber to repair.  Being an alloy body you will find:-

·        The body is worn by the shaft,  (there aren’t any bronze bushes),

·        The shaft is badly worn,

·        The seal has gone hard and is leaking, or

·        In the worst case the body has cracked round the ends of the cylinders.

In any of the above cases it is a very expensive and doubtful exercise to even attempt to repair these single arm rear shock absorbers, and certainly in the case of a cracked body, it is an impossible exercise.

BUT  -   All is not lost, it is not all doom and gloom !!

I have developed a system, and a kit, where modern telescopic tubular shock absorbers can be fitted to the rear of “D” series cars. There is no cutting, welding, drilling or any other similar ‘nasties’, to the car.

The kit I have developed is fully manufactured, with all machining, welding, drilling and cutting completed, and comes fully painted. The kit simply bolts onto existing fittings on the rear of the chassis and axle housing, utilising some of the existing bolts, and some new bolts supplied with the kit, and best of all they are not easily seen when fitted.

And the good news is that the kit, complete with new shock absorbers and fitting instructions only costs Aus$416.75, plus packing and post.  (It would cost about this much, or more to have the old “Armstrong” shocks reconditioned, and you still have a ‘doubtful’ job).  And the telescopic shock absorbers used are a good quality Australian made product, carrying a 2 year unconditional warranty (disclaimer).
