On November 11, 1976 I was born in Denison, Texas to my wonderful parents Delton & Phillis Waits. My parents are my heroes ~ I am very proud to say that. They were my guiding lights on my path to adulthood and are now my beacons of encouragement on my road to success. I often wonder if they know just how much I love them. I am the fourth of five children. I have three sisters (Kim, Lori, & Jaime) and a brother (John). Together with their spouses and children, we make an interesting and loving unit. My parents moved our family around a lot while we were growing up. My father worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 21 years and his job often transferred him across north Texas. My younger sister and I attended school in four different cities, and keeping long-term friendships was difficult. However, I loved each school I attended for various reasons. I
graduated from Sanford-Fritch High School in Fritch, Texas in 1995.
By this time I'd already decided that I wanted to become an English
teacher. I began attending Frank Phillips Community College in Borger,
Texas before my Senior year at SFHS, and graduated in 1997 with my A.A.
Degree.
In
1999, I transferred my credits from Frank Phillips Community College
to the University of Northern Colorado. I decided to declare English
as my major with an emphasis in Elementary Education. Upon graduation,
in May of 2005, I earned my B.A. in English and my Elementary Education Certification. I have taught in two different classrooms during my student teaching experience. I assisted Lisa Kennedy in her 2nd/3rd grade class at Monroe Elementary in Loveland Colorado during the winter of 2004. I then spent a few months of Spring 2005 in Nancy Hogan's 5th grade classroom. Both experiences were wonderful! I cannot wait to have a classroom of my own. Children are my life, and I feel so fulfilled each day I am in front of a class. I've
always considered myself to be a simple person. I'm often a little introverted
- and spend a lot of time alone reading or writing poetry. I like to
think that I am creative! I love to draw, though I'm not very good at
it. (Although, you don't have to be good at something you love to enjoy
doing it!)The children in my classrooms all seem to love my drawings, so I guess that is something! I
guess the main thing that I want others to know about me is that I am
passionate about family and family values. I was raised in a loving
close-knit type of home, and share very special bonds with each individual
member of my family. Love is the most important thing in our lives! |
