Interests

Research Interests (from general to specific):

  1. Artificial Intelligence (in theory & practice)
  2. Thinning Machines & Turing Test
  3. Reasoning & Knowledge Representation
  4. Human Plausible Reasoning (HPR)

HPR is a wonderful theory! The field of AI witnesses a vast number of theories each of each useful for a particular task. However what is in common among them is that most of them follow dumb mathematical approaches without any sound rationale. The question is: Does AI tries to solve mathematical problems? Do human beings employ those complex mathematical theories which are so successful in solving everyday's problems? My answer to both questions is negative. In my mind the best way to accomplish AI is to look at the masterpiece of the Mother Nature to be inspired: to see how human beings think and act. In this way I reject any approach which is not used actually by lay people. I admit that such mathematical theories may be useful for some applications in AI however I strongly doubt about their scalability and I'm sure they don't lead to a breakthrough in AI.

In my viewpoint HPR is something special something new! HPR is a reasoning method inspired by empirical observations about of human beings. Here you find more information about this theory. Nonetheless HPR is still in its childhood. There should be more experiments and supplementary theories (specially about learning) to use it to the full potential.

Indeed I am not a HPR fanatic. I like mostly its approach about AI, that is to endeavor solving problems by practical observation of human beings. Anyway, HPR shows me the way towards the final goal and it is really a solid theory.
