Our Military

We have a volunatry military
That we have let down
Below poverty level salary
They cannot feed their own

So many are on food stamps
It really is a shame
As we send parents off to live in tents and camps
While their families have nothing to claim

Mommies and Daddies not home for holidays
No money for presents under a tree
Children alone on their birthdays
Their parents they cannot see

We ask too much of these brave people in uniform
To risk their lives for their country and the world
Have we learned nothing from the past..Viet Nam and Desert Storm
As they proudly salute while our flag is unfurled

They are sacrificing everything
We give them nothing in return
Our country we are disgracing
If we refuse to learn
