Step One : The Fake
As you are dribbling with the ball in your left hand. Take a wide step to the left accompanied with good fake of the head. The ball should also be now out to your left. The defender should have moved to your left anticipating your drive.

Step Two : The Cross
Now you cross him by quickly bringing the ball to your right. You should be accelerating and leaning in while doing this. The cross has to be fast to beat the recovery from the defender.

Step Three : The Finish
Now you should have enough room on your right. And if you don't have an easy path to the hoop then take the easy jumper.

*Remember you have to keep on practicing to make your crossover deadly. And don't waste your crossover on a slack defender, because they are too lazy to fall for the fake. Just drive past them.

76ers Vs Bulls, 12-Mar-97
Iverson in the third-quarter was isolated against Jordan at the foul line. He made several crossover dribbles and stutter steps, popped free and made an 18-footer to tie the game.
This is what MJ said:
"It was a great crossover move, It wasn't the first time he's done it and it won't be the last. I'm not afraid to be shown up that way."

This page is dedicated to Allen Iverson's deadly crossover, probably the most dangerous weapon in the NBA. When he first brought it to the NBA, officials were watching it on slow motion just to catch any palming, which he got called for in his infamous rookie season. But as Iverson has grown into the NBA's icon they have accepted this deadly weapon. And one of the most feared weapons in the NBA.
Iverson's didn't always have the crossover. He says that he didn't get his crossover down fully till he was in college. But he started learning it  at 15.
"I was 15 and playing AAU ball, watching a team-mate do the crossover. He was shaking people so bad. I knew with my quickness and my speed, it would be a great move for me. I couldn't get the crossover at first. It was a lot harder than it looked. I finally got the move down at Georgetown. A walk-on showed me his crossover. But I added little things to it, made it my own move."
