He was born in Bikrampur of Dhaka district ( now in Bangladesh ) in the year 1844. His father was Ramlochan Ghosh, chief Amin (land surveyor) of Nadia district . Manomohan came to Krishnanagar in his childhood days to persue studies.He went to the U.K. and became a barrister on 6th June 1866. His palacial house in central Krishnanagar is now the Krishnanagar Collegiate School . Manomohan was a patron of the "Jatiya Mahasabha" (Congress) and was also an advocate of female education in Bengal . In 1856 when the Krishnanagar Public Library was established Manomohan became the first joint secretary, along with his father Ramlochan Ghosh as the secretary. He was also the first press reporter of Nadia district. Manomohan died of paralysis in the year 1896 at Krishnanagar.
