The Swinging Festival, ie BARODOL is celebrated during March-April every year. The festival is about 200 years old .The Bangla word "Baro" means twelve and "Dol" is a swing.Twelve idols of Sri Krishna in different postures are brought to Krishnanagar Rajbari from different parts of the district . The idols are then worshipped for three days.On the first day the idols are dressed in royal fashion, on the second day the idols have floral dress & on third day they are dressed like poor shepherds. To celebrate the occasion a fair is held in the Rajbari grounds which lasts about a month.Years ago the fair had it's importance as people from the neighbouring villages thronged to buy their yearly reqirement of garments, utensils, toys for kids , cosmetics etc.Entertained themselves seeing circus, jatras, puppet theatre, getting photographed , riding wheels , eating phuckas, chati parathas, moglai parathas and all the like.
Today Barodol festival has lost it's importance regarding financial transactions, but still it draws thousands of people, mainly localites , every year.
