SCDCC MEETING

May 11, 2009

MEMBERS PRESENT: Greg Winters, Rhonda Breshears, Phil Geist, Isaac Lowe, Lynne Bigelow, Jim Briggs, Marti Leard, Kathy Callan, Ann Cannan, Sandra Jagow, Glenn Parton, Louise Zimmerman, Nancy Briggs, Jean Rushing, Peggy Colwell, Marsha Blomquist, Nola Wade and Ray Hennemann.

Parliamentarian Marti Leard reported that a quorum was present.

Chair Winters called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM.

Minutes: Ray Hennemann presented a written copy of the minutes. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes as presented with the correction of misspellings. Motion carried.

DCC Executive Board: Greg Winters reported the Executive Board met to adopt the agenda.

Treasurer Report: Lynne Bigelow presented a written report. It was moved and seconded to accept the treasurer�s report. Motion carried

Headquarters Pledge Drive: Ann Nelson requested a pledge letter from Chair Winters.

NEW BUSINESS

Yard Sale: Louise Zimmerman reported that the Yard Sale would be Saturday, September 19, 2009. Louise passed around a sign-up sheet requesting volunteers.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

JJ Dinner: Jim Briggs said there no new changes but that Rhonda still had everything moving positively.

Convention Report: Differing viewpoints:

� Rhonda Breshears reported that the Labor Caucus elected a new chair. There was time when it was heated and emotional.

� Peggy Colwell reported that the convention theme was community/public service.

� Marti Leard said she went to the official fundraising dinner and remarked about the guest speakers. It was a great reported. Marti also went to the training workshops and believed they were very informative for a new delegate.

� Chair Winters went to the alternative dinner held by the Take Back Red California Committee. He said it was great and Howard Dean was their guest speaker as he was also for the fundraising dinner to honor outgoing Chair Art Torres.

� It was brought to the attention of the Central Committee that Kathy Callan was honored by the Progressive Caucus for her One America Rising.

� Louise Zimmerman reported that Hillary Crosby won controller because of well-run campaign. Hillary will be establishing Financial Boot Camps throughout the state.

Shasta College: Nola Wade reported that the college will allow a bar-b-que for the DFA Training.

Shasta District Fair: Marti Leard passed around a sign-up sheet for the Fair.

Democratic Club: Marsha Blomquist reported that the club dinner had to be cancelled because the 80 people threshold for the restaurant could not be met in addition to others problems occurring.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Community Organizer Workshop: Kathy Callan reported that Community Building Consultant, Jim Diers, would be the keynote speaker. The event is free and will be held at the Holiday Inn on May 21, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Jim Diers can be contacted at www.neighborpower.org.
