<review> First off, I'd just like to say that I absolutely LOVE the gameplay of this game. Multiple endings, multiple ways to beat the game, very replayable. Choose from a list of skills that will dramatically change the way you play the game. Augmentations also add a greater variety to your gameplay. Want to take out that security bot, but only have skill in pistols and low-tech weapons? Then you are screwed, and have to go around it! Want to be a walking tank, equipped with a massive GEP gun that launches homing rockets? Well, if you fire your rocket inside a security complex, the alarm will be tripped and you will have to deal with more enemies than you have rockets! Want to be a smart-ass, and diversify all your skills, so you have one rank in each? Then you'll come across a security grid that requires a level 2 security skill, and you'll only have level 1! So, the best way to go, is to play how you like to play best! Just make sure that you have some back-up skills so you don't end up totally screwed in a situation... Graphics: 8/10 Only gripe I have here is the lighting... seems a little too dark in certain places. Otherwise, the graphics are great for the engine they are using. Water effects, bullet holes, cameras, models are fairly well done, as are the weapons. However, they could've added some... dimension to some of the characters, as everyone's body frame seemed to be the same, with a few exceptions... I think... Audio: 9/10 No gripes here. Music fits the mood. Sounds are interesting. However, some of the voices get a little annoying... as the death gurgling gets a bit redundant after the 20th kill. But great music! Difficulty: 8/10 Difficulty is fairly balanced, although on the easiest setting I seemed to have some trouble in only a couple of spots. I have yet to play it on a more difficult setting, but I'd imagine it'd be excruciatingly difficult. Otherwise, on the easiest setting, the game is easily beaten according to your skills. However, if you try to go about a scenario with the wrong skills, you'll soon find yourself admiring the bloodied floor tiles. Storyline: 10/10 Involved conspiracy-theory storyline. Original. Well-thought out. Definitely a 10. For the sake of not spoiling jack... Gameplay: 10/10 If you've read the rest of this review, you'd have a nice idea of the gameplay. First Person Shooter with a touch of a Roleplaying Game. You can be a sniper, a demolitionist, a hacker, and other stuff... not at the same time, so in the beginning, choose what you want to be for the rest of the game, because it's difficult to change your mind at the end, which is a good length away if you do a lot of the side quests. Overall Rating: 10/10 Almost gave it a 9, but since I'm so partial to this game, it being one of my favorites of all time, I gave it a 10, simply for the fun factor. Nuff said. </review> |
