Sharon's Garden Flowers
ALCHEMILLA MOLLIS (lady's mantle) - height 16", small yellow flowers in spring, this plant was named a bestseller, it has pretty foliage but tends to sprawl, but  would look pretty as a close ground cover because of the foliage, full sun

AQUILEGIA (columbine) - height varies 16"-2', many varieties, heights, and colors to choose from, they are lovely delicate flowering plants attractive to hummingbirds, they are short lived plants but are noted for reseeding themselves, full sun or part shade

ARTEMISIA 'Powis Castle' - height 2' and 3-4' across, lovely mounds of silvery, filigree foliage, rarely flowers but is shrub-like, a bed made up entirely of this plant would make a great ground cover, full sun

ASCELPIAS TUBEROSA (butterfly weed) - height 20", I do not like orange flowers so the only reason I grow this orange flowering plant is because it attracts butterflies, especially monarchs, it also attracts bees, full sun

ASTILBE x ARENDSII - height 2-3', mounds of delicate foliage with spikes of flowers in pink, white, or red, needs some shade, these are lovely plants but I found them a little too demanding for moisture in my sandy soil, would make a lovely ground cover

BAPTISIA AUSTRALIS (false indigo) - height 3', large shrub like plant with bluish-green foliage and indigo-blue flower spikes resembling lupines, if you leave the flowers go to seed and dry out, you can cut them to use in dried arrangements...the seed pods make a rattling noise

CATANANCHE COERULEA (cupid's dart) - height up to 28", grassy leaves with thin stalks of papery flowers that bloom July through September, available in purplish-blue or white flowers, full sun

CONVALLARIA MAJALIS (lily-of-the-valley) - height 8-10", commonly used as a ground cover, these plants have drooping, white bell-shaped flowers on slender stems that bloom in May, likes shade, I really do not care for these plants as they seem to turn up where you don't want them

CAMPANULA CARPATICA 'Blue Clips' or 'White Clips' (carpathenian harebell) - height 6-8", full sun or part shade, blue or white upturned bellflowers will bloom most of summer if deadheaded, these are very delicate looking plants, good for edging, one of my favorites

CENTRANTHUS RUBER (red valerian) - height 2-3', rose red flower clusters which bloom most of the summer, attractive to hummingbirds, full sun

COREOPSIS VERTICILLATA 'MOONBEAM' (threadleaf coreopsis) - height 18-24", sun or part shade, dainty lemon yellow flowers and fern-like foliage that bloom most of the summer, this plant was not as hardy for me as 'Zagreb' coreopsis

COREOPSIS VERTICILLATA 'ZAGREB' (threadleaf coreopsis) - height 12-15", sun, yellow flowers with fern-like foliage that bloom most of the summer, this is a wonderfully hardy plant that spreads by runners but not invasively

CROCOSMIA MASONORUM 'LUCIFER' (montbretia) - height 3', small red flowers on slender stems with foliage similar to iris, blooms in July and August, full sun, attractive to hummingbirds

CROCUS 'JEANNE D' ARC' - height 4-6", large white flowering bulbs that bloom in early spring, full sun
