Sharon's Garden Flowers
More Perennials I Have Grown
DICENTRA EXIMIA (fern leaf bleeding heart) - height 15", lovely fernlike foliage with delicate cherry-pink blossoms on slender stems for a shady spot or part sun, these are very nice plants that will bloom most of the summer especially if deadheaded, attractive to bees and hummingbirds, would make a lovely ground cover

ECHINACEA PURPUREA 'MAGNUS' (purple coneflower) - height 2-3', sun or part shade, pinkish purple daisy type flowers with dark brown, coned centers, blooms in July, attractive to butterflies and the seeds are attractive to goldfinches

ECHINACEA PURPUREA 'WHITE SWAN' (white coneflower) - height 18-20", full sun, white daisy type flowers for about a month in mid-summer, one of my favorites

EUPHORBIA POLYCHROMA (cushion spurge) - height 1', a mounding plant with yellow flowers in spring and early summer, full sun

GAILLARDIA 'BURGUNDY' (blanket flower) - height 18-30", full sun, burgundy daisy/cone type flowers, these need to be dug up every 2-3 years because the center dies out, remove dead center and replant healthy part of plant, very long blooming plants

GAILLARDIA x GRANDIFLORA 'GOLDEN GOBLIN' (blanket flower) - height 12", full sun, yellow daisy/cone type flower with red towards the center, these need to be dug up every 2-3 years because the center dies out, remove dead center and replant healthy part of plant

GERANIUM (cranesbill) - there are many different varieties of geraniums, I cannot remember the varieties that I have, but they make great ground cover plants and some are evergreen too

GYPSOPHILA (baby's breath) - height 2-3', mounds of narrowly lance-shaped, blue-green leaves and a profusion of very tiny, double, white flowers on branching stems, in the summer, full sun, a must have plant to combine cut flowers with other plants from your yard to make beautiful bouquets

HELIOPSIS HELIANTHOIDES (false sunflower) - height 2-6', depending on variety, I think the variety I have grown is "Light of Loddon" which grows approximately 3-4' tall, has yellow daisy type flowers on tall stems, these are long blooming plants, one of the easiest plants to grow

HEMEROCALLIS 'STELLA DE ORO' height 12", a dwarf daylily with golden yellow flowers that blooms in early summer and sporadically throughout the summer, full sun or part shade, daylilies are pretty flowering plants but you really need a good grouping for a nice display

HEMEROCALLIS 'DEWEY FRESH' (daylily) - height 2", pale lemon blooms, full sun or part shade

HEUCHERA 'BRESSINGHAM HYBRID' (coral bells) - evergreen foliage, height 2-2 1/2', small, red bellflowers on tall stems flowering in June and July, very attractive to hummingbirds and bees, part shade, these need to be divided about every 4 years, makes a nice ground cover that does not spread

HOSTA (funkia or plantain lily) - there are so many varieties of hostas to choose from, foliage is available in various shades of green, blue-green, yellow-green, and variegated, heights also vary, they are must-have plants for shade, make excellent ground cover, the flowers are trumpet shaped along slender stems and attract hummingbirds and bees

HYPERICUM CALYCINUM (St. John's Wort) - height 12-18", sun or part shade, golden yellow flowers June-July

HYSSOP OFFICINALIS - height 1-2', evergreen, bushy herb, very much shrub looking, available with blue, white or red flowers, bloom most of summer and are attractive to bees
