2007 to 2008

April 2007 to August 2008: Coordinator: Exchange for Sustainable Development (ESD)
Role: Act as contact person for the FK (Norwegian Peace Corps Volunteers) participants at KU on day to day issues and reporting to Norway.

2007 to 2010

Jan 2007 to Jan 2011: Coordinator: Education, Research and Training for sustainable management of natural resources in Himalayan Watersheds (HIMUNET), NUFU: PRO 2007/10109.
Role: To promote education and research through M.S. or Ph.D. from mountain universities of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nepal.

2005 to 2008

October 2005 to Dec 2008: Coordinator: Accumulation of Persistent Organic Pollutants in the Himalaya. Supported by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with the University of Manitoba, Canada.
Role: Examine the atmospheric deposition and altitudinal fractionation of semi-volatile POPs in the Himalaya, assess whether snow and glacier melt water can be an exposure pathway of POPs to humans, and enhance the knowledge and capacity of Kathmandu University regarding laboratory analysis of POPs.

2005 to 2008

April 1- till date: Lead Scientist & Regional Team Leader: Project- Development of an Assessment System to Evaluate the Ecological Status of Rivers in the Hindu Kush- Himalayan Region (HKH). Project coded FP6-2002-INCO-DEV-1 and supported financially by the European Union.
Role: To deal with the scientific part of the project such as Multihabitat sampling approach and multimetrics analysis in assessing the ecological status of rivers in the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan) in the process of Capacity Building of local scientists in the field of recognition and application of criteria for biological indicators in ecosystem management.

2003 to 2006

April 1- till date: Co-partner: Project: Academic exchange of soil biophysics: the fundamental science behind the improvement of degraded soils. Asia-Link Programme Budget Line B7-3010 in collaboration with Nanjing Institute of Soil Science Chinese Academy of Soil Sciences and supported financially by the European Commission.
Role: Student recruitment, curricula development and post graduate training, organise workshop and identify needs for soil research training facing Nepal.

2003 to 2006

Nov 1– till date: Associate Project Coordinator: Project- Himalayan Agricultural Intensification Project. Funded by NORAD. In collaboration with Norwegian Centre for Soil and Environmental Research (Jordforsk), Norway.
Role: Act as principal investigator for the pesticides monitoring in water bodies, biological river water quality assessment, and drinking water quality in public sources.


2003

Mar 6-12: Team Member: Project- Babai River Biodiversity Project. Funded by Zoological Society of London.
Role: Sampling, analysing and reporting river quality of Babai using macroinvertebrates as biological indicators.

2003

Jan 6-Jan 13: Water Quality Consultant: Project- Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation- Feasibility Study, Detailed Survey, and Construction Supervision. A joint venture of Building Design Authority (P.) Ltd. And Plush Engineers & Architects, Funded by Asian Development Bank.
Role: To detect the bacteriological and physico-chemical (including Arsenic) contamination level of shallow and deep tube wells, dug wells, piped water supply, and springs, and recommend best alternatives. 

2002

March 1-Jan 31: Principal Investigator: Project- Water quality of the rainwater harvesting jars in Gulmi district, Nepal. Funded by FINNIDA.
Role: To detect the bacteriological and physico-chemical contamination level of rainwater harvesting jars. Perform Socio-economic survey and recommend preventive measures for the protection of water.

2001

June 1-July 31: Worked as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow under the North South Dialogue Fellowship scheme at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Hydrobiology, Vienna, Austria.  

2001

August 2001-July 2002: Project Co-ordinator: Project- Water Resource Component in the Galaundu-Pokhare Khola Sub-watershed, Dhading district, Nepal. Sponsored by DANIDA in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand.
Role: To work independently in preparing an inventory of water resources, estimate water yield, survey water consumption, evaluate water deficit and propose the method of water harvesting for the region.

 2000

Jan 3-28: Co-Worker: Project- Biogeographic distribution of freshwater crabs in the Himalaya, in collaboration with the Scenkenberg Museum, Frankfurt and the Frankfurter University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Role: To work jointly with German researcher as a Co-Worker for a project on Biogeographic distribution of freshwater crabs in the Himalaya. Sponsored by DFG (Deutsche Forschungs Gesellschaft).  

2000

Feb 2000-April 2001: Project Co-ordinator: Project- Capacity Building for Community Water Quality Assessment in the Jhikhu Khola Watershed, Kavre District, Nepal. Sponsored by Australian Aid (AusAID) under its Small Activities Scheme. Under action in collaboration with ICIMOD/PARDYP Project.
Role: To co-ordinate the overall project activities in close co-operation with the staff of ICIMOD/PARDYP and Kathmandu University.  

2000

Nov. 1-8: Team Member: Project- Macroinvertebrates and Diatoms as indicators of eutrophication and organic pollution in the Bagmati river system in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. In collaboration with Dr. Ingrid Juettner, Natural History Museum, London, UK.
Role: Conduct field work together with the collaborator. Write report on macroinvertebrates as bioindicators.


1999

Sept.3-Nov. 10: Team Leader: Environmental Study of the Katunche Beshi, Kavre and Naya Gaon, Bhaktapur Micro Hydro Scheme. A Project funded by the REDP/UNDP, Nepal. Role: To assist team members in the preparation of Questionnaire, Checklist and its application in field.  

1999

Oct. 23-Nov. 5: Team Member: Project- Biodiversity and Water Quality Assessment. Ralph Brown Expedition Award, Royal Geographic Society, UK. Role: The team examined chemistry, habitat structure, algae, insects and birds along 23 rivers that drain into the Kali Gandaki river.  

1998

June 1998: Principal Investigator: Project- An Inventory of the Aquatic Macroinvertebrates as Bioindicators of Water Pollution In Nepal. A Project funded by UGC/Nepal. Role: To compile the list of aquatic insects from available literature, published or unpublished, and present a report to the UGC Nepal. 

1991

April 15-31: Consultant and Team Leader: Project- Parliamentary Election Prediction. Integrated Development Systems, New Baneshwar, Kathmandu. Role: Interviewing political leaders contesting for Parliamentary election and the voters, prepare a report and make a prediction of the election results.
