| <~~~BACK hurts those we love most because it spreads a negative air over our personal relationships that's anything but healthy and loving. So use the judgment the Lord gave you to check your tongue when it starts to criticize and condemn others. And use the heart God gave you to give to and forgive others. The Lord promises, you'll reap rewards a-plenty in return. Are you a church-goer, or a Christian? If you think they're one and the same, check out this week's recommendation at http://www.bright.net/~1wayonly/playingchurch.html Questions Q: How big was Noah's ark? A: The description of Noah's ark can be found in Genesis 6:14-16. Here, God tells Noah: "Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch. This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. You shall make a window for the ark, and finish it to a cubit from the top; and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks." A "cubit" was the rough distance between a man's elbow and his forefinger. Scholars consider a conservative equivalent for a cubit to be about 17.5 inches. Therefore, Noah's ark was at least 437.5 feet (longer than a football field), 43.75 feet high (conservatively, a four story building), and 72.92 feet wide (about half a football field's width). The estimated square feet of the arc is conservatively 95, 707.5 (about 20 basketball courts). According to a note in my Bible, it wasn't until the late 19th century that a boat larger than Noah's arc was recorded, and most of the larger ships used today are about 1,000--2, 000 square feet-quite small in comparison.
