| <~~~ BACK great height in order to splatter into pieces. Falling from a tree or something similar (remember, this was on a plot of land with no great structures) wouldnt offer enough height to make someone burst open. On the other hand, it would be perfectly normal for Judas body, once the decaying process started, to go splat. Judas hung himself on Friday (probably in a somewhat secluded area, since Jews consider suicide a disgrace), and because Friday night leads to the Sabbath, and Saturday is the Sabbath, he couldnt have been cut down right away. Therefore, Judas probably hung for at least two days. When a body decays, gas swells in the abdomen. This creates great pressure, and if Judas body fell off the rope due to decay (or a rope splitting), this pressure could easily have split open his body, spewing out his internal organs. If Judas didnt fall, but hung long enough, the pressure of the gas could have popped his belly. The accounts in Mathew and Acts are rather like reading two news stories on the same subject. They both talk of the same account, but offer different details. GOT A QUESTION? I invite you to ask it. What stumps you? I'll do my best to find an answer!
