| <~~~ BACK Yet, the Bible is clear that we aren't here on earth to party and have a good time. (Although there's nothing wrong with good times.) The earth, the Bible tells us, is a sort of rehearsal, where the actors (we humans) grow and explore and learn from what goes on. Or, if you like, life on this plant is a refiner's fire; though hot and uncomfortable, we're shaped by life here. In any case, the earth is just the beginning of our adventures. In next week's Share Agape, we'll explore more of Job, tackling such questions as: "Why do some sinners get off scott-free while Christians suffer?" and "Why doesn't God help me now?" This week's recommendation takes us to the lighter side of life, yet is still an interesting Bible study aid: Bible Trivia. It's good for a rainy day, or to test your Bible knowledge. Check out the quiz on Job. You'll find that and more at: http://quiz.christiansunite.com/index.shtml Questions Q: "How could Job really be without sin?" A: "In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil," the Bible says (Job 1:1). It doesn't actually say Job was sinless. Saying someone was "blameless" and "upright" was the equivalent of saying someone is "righteous" today. We certainly don't mean they're sinless; we simply mean that they follow the Lord. In fact, in Job 6:24, Job asks to be shown his errors so that he can learn from them, and in 7:21, he asks forgiveness from his sins. Clearly, he knew he was not sinless. GOT A QUESTION? I invite you to ask it. What stumps you? I'll do my best to find an answer! To ask a question, email me at [email protected]. (c) 2003 by Kristina Seleshanko. |
