THE LOST YEARS
(1993-1995)
Once upon a time, a character named Talea used to oversee the firelizard population on PernMUSH. From it's inception to around 1994 - when she retired the sceptre of her task - PernMUSH's firelizard population details were carefully recorded and crossreferenced on an actual DB object. (Tying in with this was a firelizard attribute that would list the name, colour, size and clutch-code reference on the character using it.) But much of this data was irreparably lost when the original server PernMUSH was housed on suddenly stopped being accessible. Many of these later clutches can only be guessed at now, discovered by sheer perseverance and luck! Subsequently information has been unearthed for clutches dating as far along as August 1994. But for convenience the most accurate information is dated only to Jun/Jul 1993.
At any rate the on-game database object was retired, and the firelizard clutches deregulated. Factors for the deregulation have been suggested that include the immensely unwieldy size of the on-game database and possibly as a conseqence of the game going down as well. Following the end of the regulated firelizard clutches though PernMUSH suffered a hatching boom. A heyday that can only be imagined at nowadays by comparison for those that were not witness to it. Again records from this time can only be guessed at. Certainly fragments have surfaced here and there. A hatchdate saved by one player has been traced to a the fl-list attribute saved by another, or a webpage listing tying the details together neatly. But for the most part these are few and far between. So these years have affectionately been tagged 'the lost years' of PernMUSH Firelizard Records.
