| Buffy woke to the sound of his breathing when she opened her eyes and moved his fingers along his skin. Spike sighed then opened his eyes when he gently pushed her off and sat up. " Don't. ". " It's ok. ". " No, it isn't! What she did! What I did! ", he said when he got up and walked to the window. Buffy sighed when she walked to the window and slid her arms around his chest. He was shaking as she kissed his back and he sighed. " Look, we both come from fucked up families, ok. Just let it go. ". " It's hard. ". " I know. How much do you remember? ". " My birth to the year eight teen eighty. There was this woman. I think her name was " Cecily ". She said mean things to me and I left this club, I think. ". " Well, that's a start. ". " What about the rest of it? The world didn't look like it does now. Just how old am I? ". Buffy sighed when she led him to the chair and sat him down. She walked to the bookcase when she brought over two large books and he looked at them. " To understand all of it, I have to explain things. ", Buffy said when she sat on his lap and placed the book on hers. She explained when a slayer was as he looked at the pages of the book and pouted. " So? ". " That's what I am. I am, was, The Slayer. ". " So, you killed monsters and demons and vampires? ". " Yep. ". " And I am what? ". " Well, that's hard to explain. It's in the necklace but I'm not sure that you should learn that part. Last night scared me. ". " Scared me, too. ". Buffy sighed when he moved his hand along her back and she shivered. He smiled when she kissed him and placed the book on the floor. " Maybe Willow can help. ", Buffy said as he nodded then they left the room closing the door behind them. ------------------------------------------------ Angel read the reports when the door opened and Eve walked inside. She sat on the desk when he looked up and she looked angry. " Well!? ". " I have people checking the readings. It's happened so fast that pin pointing the exact spot will take time. ". " We don't have time! The Head Office wants him back as of yesterday! ". " Tell them that I'm working on it. ". Eve growled then left the office and Angel sighed sitting back in his chair. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike laid on the floor inside the protective circle as Willow sat to his left and Buffy sat to his right. Spike looked at them when Willow looked at the amulet and sighed. " Are you sure about this? It could hurt you. ". " Yeah. ", Spike said when she sighed and opened his shirt. She touched his warm skin as he smiled at her and she smiled back. Buffy held a cloth covered stick in her hand as he looked at her and she nodded. " Now, remember, this is all in the past. It can't hurt you in any way. ", Willow said when he nodded and she placed the necklace around his neck. She placed the amulet against his chest, near his heart, and the feeling of being hit in the head happened again and he stiffened. " Spike? ". The amulet flared as he shook and growled and Buffy got scared. Spike's body shook and trashed about while foam dribbled out of his mouth and he screamed. Buffy watched as he thrashed about then his eyes rolled into his head and she looked at Willow. " Make him stop! ", Buffy shouted as Willow removed the amulet and Spike didn't seem to be breathing. Buffy called to him as she checked and he wasn't breathing. His heart pounded against her hand as she tipped his head back and breathed into his mouth pinching his nose closed. She tried not to cry when he coughed and started breathing again. Buffy touched his hair when she looked at Willow and Willow handed her the amulet back. Buffy carefully lifted Spike up when she carried him upstairs and Willow wiped the tears from her eyes. Buffy carried Spike into the bedroom when she placed him under the covers and crawled into bed with him. She laid close to him as she laid her head against him and counted his heartbeats while watching the second hand of the clock go around. She drifted off as his heart thumped in her ear and tears trickled down her face. ------------------------------------- She was in the white room again. Her eyes snapped open when she looked at Spike and he looked so still. " Spike!? ". She placed her hand against him when she felt him breathing then watched his eyes fluttering open. " That was a bloody kick. ". " Don't scare me like that! ". " Sorry, Pet, but it happened so fast that I couldn't control it. ". " How far did you go? ". " Can't really tell. It's like the more I remember out there the less I remember here. ". " Are you ok? ". " I have one hell of a headache, but, yeah. ". Buffy smiled when she crawled on top of him and he held her close. She felt him breathing as he smiled and she brushed the hair from his eyes. " You're going to have to be tender with me, Pet, I'm going to be really freaked when I wake up. ". " What about the vampire side of your nature? Are you going to crave blood? ". " We'll just have to see. ", Spike said as she nodded and laid her hear against him. His heart thumped as she looked at him and smiled. " It's talking to me. ". " What is? ". " Your heart. It calls my name. ". " Ahhhhhhhh. Well, it has good taste. ". Buffy smiled when he shrugged and both of them closed their eyes. The window showed Angel reading the reports as he pouted and tossed the reports into the trash can. |
