Earthbound
I am an earthbound poet,
Living in quiet desperation,
Searching for a solution,
Dreaming of the sky
Of wings
To lift my weary soul
To transcend the desolation that surrounds me
And feel the warmth of the sun on my face
As I ascend the icy altitudes
That secure the boundaries
Between the realm of what is known
And what is feared
Shattering patterns
To reveal new worlds unexplored
A vast frontier of virgin realization
The ecstasy of rebirth
The glory of Renaissance;
I am a nova
Piercing the heavens
An ancient omen resurrected
A streak of fire
Across the midnight sky
A particle of motion in an imaginary atmosphere
Replete with other dreamers
Longing for distant ideals
Other dreamers
Who,
Like I,
Remain
Earthbound.
