A Journey to the New World, The Diary of Remember Patience Whipple, Mayflower, 1620, Dear America Series, By Kathryn Lasky
Remembeer Patience Whipple, or Mem, as she likes to be called, is a high spirited young girl who begins her diary with, "...Mem, that's what I answer to." She starts off on the Mayflower and writes from there forward.
Her best friend is Humility Sawer, or Hummy, and Mem and Hummy give nick names to people on the ship and settlement.
I think I'll stop there, because I don't want to give the whole book away. But, A Journey to the New World is a book that I have read over and over. I suggest you read it, at least once.
