BIO hadow Of Doubt is a talented five�piece progressive metal band from Ottawa, Canada. The band was born in 1990, the brainchild of brothers Todd and Dave Hodgson. Their idea was to play interesting, challenging, and melodic progressive heavy metal, influenced by the classic progressive rock and metal bands of the 1970�s and 1980�s, as well as the traditional and contemporary jazz masters. The band consists of Todd on guitar, Dave on drums, Rick Barkhouse on keyboards, Dave Bergeron on bass guitar, and Renato �Ren� Vettore on vocals. Todd�s guitar work is made up of solid-crushing rhythms, blistering and melodic lead lines, and intricate musical textures, weaved around the dark and powerful Shadow Of Doubt compositions. Dave lays down stunningly complex drum parts, while maintaining a rock solid backbeat. Rick is a first-class musician who brings a lot of fresh, new ideas to the band, and also fires out some astonishing keyboard solos. Dave is a talented, tasteful bass player, whose enthusiasm is second to none, and as a bonus, he also happens to be a hell of a good guy. Ren�s vocals are rich with emotion and power, and he brings a lot of energy, and a positive attitude to the band. The current lineup has been together for two years, performing regularly around the Ottawa club scene. In mid-1992, the band released their self-titled first demo. Recorded at the now defunct Ambience Studios in Ottawa. The band's second demo, Another Lie, was recorded at Rock's Wonderland Studio, and released in the fall of 1994. It was an unrelenting collection of mind-twisting progressive metal songs that were right in tune with the 1990�s progressive rock scene. Shadow Of Doubt received some very enthusiastic reviews from Canadian and European music magazines. The band has just finished recording their third release Dreaming Of Insanity, a musical journey laced with intricate compositions, and unforgettable lyrics and melodies. Shadow Of Doubt is looking to continue bestowing their compelling, thought-provoking style of music on audiences both locally and outside the Ottawa area.
