Here i'll post solutions offered
by members of the forum,
There seems to be a few, short ones i'll add here.
Otherwise follow the links, and these aren't in any special
order.

Several things spring to
mind.
Note: WM cost lots therefore
you will probably outnumber them.
1. use a single YS unit to
stop one WM unit then pull the rest back far enough to draw his troops
out of extended line and flank the next two with ND ( fast and hard hitting
).
This can be done easier
by wrapping around the outside and squeezing the middle.
2. Use YS again to hold his
units in place. Attack his Taiso front with two units ND while running
YC around behind lines and attacking Taisho in rear. Kill Taisho mop up
the rest.
3. Note: WM & NG use
the Naginata which is not I believe considered a yari weapon. Thus run
over them with HC.
Let them drown in there over
specialization.
Oh yea, WM are still susceptible
to arrows. So channel them into your killing grounds.

Have you tried Naginata
and Musketeers perhaps with some HC.
Use the Naginata to hold
a line while the musketeers pummel away from either flank.
Have HC ready for any WM
that try to engage musketeers.
Also try musketeers centraly
then as WM get close move Naginata through to engage then keep the musketeers
firing into the melee. The key is to tell your musketeers to hold position,
you don't want them turning and wasting valuable firing time, particularly
at close range.

Its no fun when they do
Munk Rushes, but there is away to prevent it....
I play with at lest 4 monks
3h or 4h that takes the front hit....and then have all the others to go
around the Monk rushers troops to suround them and then they will run..
Play maps Like Ise. Nagashima
and more to prevent it to. They look like hilly maps but there is always
a place on the maps where you are equal matched!!
Like Ise my favorite map...
if you go around the map
on the left side it has an open field for battle(as an Attacker)

I think you shouldn't count
on more than 2 Muskets to prevent Monks rushes, because as far as I can
remember Monk Rushers always try to pickup rain to avoid guns.
When I don't know the player
I am facing , I always try to pick up at least 4 Monks (depending on the
amount of kokus) to prevent Monk Rushes.
But if the player is a good
one, I think that Monk Rushes are hard to handle on relatively flat maps
at 5000 Kokus (my favourite as I think it can handle several good armies
composition) because with such a koku amount you can't really create a
strong point as the one that Link San described.
AI is not good enough especially
at normal difficulty to give some problem to a well balanced army at 5000
Kokus especially with 10 Monks honour 2.
The challenge is more difficult
at expert difficulty with 16 Monks units
9 honour 1 and 7 honour
0.
Because with 10 units you
can easily flank and rear attack.
You can train rushes train
vs AI in customized battles expert mode but AI will never be as good as
a good monk rusher.
Some tips :
Do not use more than 2 Mu
(rain) , a lot of arrows 4 Monks, some ND, some Cav and keep your units
relatively close together.

when buying archers to hit
monks just buy honour 0 archers, the cost much less and do the same. spend
the koku on the body that is taking the punch.
a good rusher is very hard
too handle, imo the monks are a bit too strong. just like the ammo pack
of muskets.
(there is dissent about Honour
and it's effects on archer's fire)

My Results

My games before the rules where finalised,
still within the rules,
but I don't count 'em because I think I was Lucky in both cases.

Monks in the Mist

...and then
it rained
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You will notice that in
both the wins above the weather gave me a defensive bonus.
Fog - suprise
Rain - fatigue
ALSO in both cases I had
a little luck,
FOG - when my scouting YS
came upon the rear of AI Taisho,
RAIN - when my Monk charge
split the assaulting monks AND he charged uphill with only his Taisho against
2xH_5 Musket and 5xH_2 Arqueys - i charged downhill and he broke!
