Chapter 12: The Mouse Hunters

Today was a day to remember in the War of Mice and Men. The glue traps are messy and leave the mouse alive (fighting and kicking) for too long a time, but that was our only time-tested weapon. That is, until today. We recieved a better mousetrap, or so it said on the label.

But indeed it was better. Today we caught six mice. In some cases, we would set the trap and fifteen minutes later would come the telltale "SNAP" of a successful kill. Naturally, we at the Shack were the envy among our peers.

And even with success like that, our shack still hadn't seen the end of mice. We still heard the sounds of their scurrying by our bubble-wrapped walls. We still heard the scratching of their entering Jonah's food supplies. We still saw them running around the area while we stood in formation. And we were ready to kill them all.

With this success came responsibility. The trap we used so marvelously was turned over to the maintenance tent. It was there for over three hours and not a single mouse was caught.

Amateurs.
