Publicity We have been fortunate to get registered in the Family Organizational Registration program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) in Salt Lake City, Utah. We were registered as an Ancestral Family Organization which will coordinate genealogical activity on a common family line.
Letters from cousins Eugene Hamilton White Sr. wrote about being admitted to the membership in the General Society of the Sons of the Revolution using his descendancy from Gabriel Ogden through his daughter Mary Ogden who married Benjamin Shackleton.**Note: I have searched records and cannot find the record of Eugene White being admitted to the Sons of the Revolution**
Mary L. Johnston wrote a letter thanking the editor for the information he sent to her in regards to the family she was researching (page 268, 269 & 270 of The Shackletons book)
Walter J. Wintermute wrote that he was a descendant from the oldest son of the Emigrator-George and that his father John B. is mentioned on page 68 in the Wintermute Family History Book.
Fred Wintermute wrote that he was leaving for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He was headed to Pfungstadt (Germany) where the Wintermute Emigrator George resided in Germany. He also states that his father was William Jacob and on page 148 in the Wintermute Family History book.
Dona L. Harris wrote that she received the newsletter and was very pleased with it, except for one exception, her grandfather, Donald Connelly Shackelton was still very much alive (she was accidently listed as the grandchild of the "late" Mr. Shackelton in the last issue)
Earl and Ruth Shackelton wrote that they did not make the Yellow Medicine County Fair this year with the popcorn wagon and that there was a news article in the Canby News about it on August 1, 1984. Also wrote that they thought they could have a picture of Goldie Landmeyer and her brother, Clarence when they were about 10 or 11 years old, but were not sure that it was them as no name was written on the back of the picture!
Betty Shackleton Glock wrote that she found an obituary for William I. Shackleton, age 60 in a newspaper in Louisville, Kentucky on August 5 & 6th.
Helen E. A. Saum wrote that the research has really paid off for her as she found out where her family went to (Michigan) when they left Brant County, Ontario, Canada
Horace E. Shackelton, Sr wrote telling that his granddaughter, Lynn Hoskins Brown was coming to visit and that his health is good.
Laurel Snyder wrote that she was sorry that it had been so long between letters but that she has been ill and that she is now staying at her her son, Barry's house. Laurel decided to look up Shackletons in the Pontiac phone directory and ended up calling and speaking with a Carl Shackleton that said that he came from Canada. He was quite interested in Shackleton information.
Esther Shackelton wrote that she liked the new format of the newsletter and enclosed her money for next year.
Dean & Carol Lee Smith wrote that things were settling down at her home. Carol had been the driving force behind gathering information about the White family.
Oscar & Bernice Shackelton wrote that they were still waiting for someone to come along and buy their farm.
Paul & Naomi Magnusson wrote that she was happy with her copy of the newsletter and hoped that she would be able to contribute more later in the year.
Cindy K. Snyder wrote that she was sent a copy of the newsletter by her grandmother, Laurel Whipple Snyder and she enclosed information for her family and subscribed to the newsletter. |
