Letter from Bernice and Oscar Shackelton ...this will be the last newsletter I shall do. My eyesite has failed me to the extent that I must use a magnifying glass to read by now. My implants of six to seven years ago are still working, but the retina has deteriated to the extent that my center vision is almost completel gone. I can still see color, objects, stop lights, etx. but I can't read without extrememly bright light. I have been to the specialist in K.C. who gave me treatments with the Laser beam, but it did very little goo. My left eye has 20-50 but the right does not respond. i go timorrow for my last check up. I am told I will never go completely blind for which I am very thankful. It is with a sad heart I must say farewll and many, many thanks for your help to keep this letter in cirulation for eleven years. It has been a joy to hear from all of you and share your findings, your joys and your heartaches. I pray that another member may take up the good work and keep you all in touch. Farewell, Oscar and Bernice Shackelton |
