I realize that Bernice included many birthdates in her information, but I will not include any dates for those that I do not have a death date for. Times have changed since the 1970's and this is the Internet afterall! Please email me personally for any dates that appeared in the book or the newsletters. Sorry for any inconvience that this may cause.
This newsletter contains a brief message from Bernice; a letter from Harold Shackelton about the past winter in Michigan; a letter with some information about John Kenneth Shackleton from Mrs. Joyce Shackleton; a article from the Sarasota paper sent from Horace Shackelton about William Shackelton and his work with the United Way.

SARATOTA HERALD TRIBUNE FLORIDA-Sunday, February 13, 1977
"United Way Section Chairman, at age 89, Playing Key Role"
William J. Shackelton at age 89 is by far the senior chairman for the current United Way campaign in Sarasota County.
A resident of Bay Village, Shackelton is of a cadre of condominium and apartment chairmen who are playing a key role in the United Way drive by sharing with neighbors the facts of the major charity.
These chairmen report to neighbors their interest and the facts of United Way but make no effort to collect contributions. The approach is new here and ws created to meet the particular needs of Sarasota with its high population of retirees and newcomers.
Shackelton notes, "I like this kind of giving and I don't see why it isn't recognized as the most sensible approach to helping others."
Shackelton is one of several chairmen in the main category.
