Additions: Beatrice Prellwitz has a great-granddaughter! The baby girl's mother is Dixie Mae Prellwitz, the daughter of Leslie William Prellwitz, Beatrice's son.
Bernice tells us that she had her Inter Occular Implant surgery, which was very successful and that she will get her glasses on Friday.
Mrs. Venus Lyons letter (dated 13 May 1976) Venus tells us that she has been very busy and yet sick at the same time. Her son has helped her put in a little garden and that he and his wife had their names put on the moon! Her younger son was an inspector and tester for the Apollo Mission. He worked with Missels and NASA aironautics and Space Administration. Venus's older son is a Major in the reserves. He was a pilot in World War II, he won his wings before he left the States. Venus's daughter was a secretary and part time manageer for the Chamber of Commerce for 10 years. She also writes that she has a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter.
Mr. Donald C. Shackelton letter (dated 4 March 1976) Donald writes that he is planning on taking his retirement from the railroad later this year. His daughter, Mary Ann recieved her Bachelor of Arts degree at Nebraska Univerity at Lincoln in late December 1975. She is now employed by the Custer County Chief newpaper at Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Lillian Dunham Osburn letter (dated 15 May 1976) She writes that she is the daughter of Lillian Shackelton Dunham, who was the daughter of Charles Wesley Shackelton. She tells us that her husband is from Missouri and an ex-college professor in Ecalogy at Colorado University and that she is a teacher in primary grades for the last 22 years. She also tells that her mother did a lot of work on the Dunham's clan. They came over in 1622 and helped found martha's Vinyard.
Deaths: Robert E. Redden on 16 March 1976; he was the father of Marianne who married John Dee Shackelton, the son of Oscar and Bernice.
CADILLAC EVENING NEWS 100 YEARS AGO (Michigan) Sent in by Harold Shackelton of Lake City, Michigan April 16, 1875-Three saw mills at Cadillac are now in active operation: Cobb's Combs Brothers and Shackelton and Green's. Steam has also been up in the Harris Mill, who will be starting to cul logs Monday. Will Shckelton of Cadillac recently met with an accident at Stone Ledge, having his left leg run over by a log. He is now around on crutches with no bones broken |
