Eric Kevin Cranora
Eric Kevin Cranora was considered a great ruler of Crarina from 1044 to 1100. He was considered very handsome, with dark hair, gray eyes, and healthy body, especially compared to other men of his time, who were often unhealthy and overweight. He was also the first of nine kings of Crarina to bear the name Eric, a Paparnese name.
Life Summary
Eric was born on June 4th 1027, in the capital of Crarina, Castletown. His parents, King Napoleon and Queen Louise, were happy to have a son and he was named the heir to the throne. He grew up educated, and trained, and always had an open mind and kind heart, although he angered quickly and would lash out at other people who insulted his family or friends. He always had a strong sense of honor and faith, even when he was tested.
When Eric was fifteen, he was betrothed to Princess Linda. It is unsure now how he felt, but a noblewoman's diary said he was "very happy when the good news came. He seemed to ready for marriage and being king even at his young age. The Prince seems to care for his bride even as I write, and they have not met nor will they for at least several years."
In 1044, before his seventeenth birthday, Eric's father, Napoleon, fell ill and died. It was said to be of natural causes, that he had smallpox or some other disease, but Eric later revealed that his father had been poisoned; that his father knew he was poisoned, and that one of two men discovered dead weeks later was the assassin. The two men had killed each other in a duel, but no one could be sure of what had happened, and who was the murderer.
After Napoleon's death, Eric was crowned King Eric of Crarina, but the marriage agreement was broken off for an unknown reason. He ruled uneventfully for nearly three years until his advisors told him that he must find a queen, for his two younger sisters, Caroline and Catherine, were "sick to death of writing The Queen's Letter setting fashions, and doing everything that the queen does." Then he began his search for a bride again, and although he was certainly leaning towards asking for Princess Linda's hand in marriage, it was entirely possible that he would marry another. He did marry her in 1047, and they lived in Crarina together until 1049 when the War started. Around then, Linda became pregnant. Ferdinand took Linda captive and Eric, heartbroken, went into hiding so that he would not be captured and mourned her, believing that she was dead. Fourteen months later, he received news that she was alive and he ordered his men to find her.
They were finally reunited in 1051, and Eric, Linda, and their daughter Lillian tried to make their way to Castletown to begin retaking the country. Linda became pregnant on the way, and they stopped so she could give birth. In June of 1052, she had Eric Napoleon Cranora, called Napoleon, and around the same time they had to run away to escape a group of Fasorians. Splitting up, Eric escaped while Linda and the children were recaptured. Eric looked and looked for Linda after he learned that she was captured, and six months later, in December, he infiltrated the fort she was kept in, and rescued her and the children.
He worked and fought to take back his country, and finally, in 1054, he took Castletown and the surrounding province. Then the Fasorians gave up Crarina, abandoning it. Ferdinand had died earlier in the year, and when Eric sailed to Fasoria to attack them later, the Fasorians surrendered almost immediately. As Ferdinand's will indicated, Eric let Linda rule Fasoria as Queen Prima, and he ruled Crarina, an ocean and country apart from his wife. He ruled well and the citizens loved him.
In 1088, when Eric was sixty-one, he was thrown from a horse and his legs were paralyzed, although his doctors never understood the ailment, he never walked again although he lived another twelve years. He died in 1100, surrounded by family and friends, and happy for his full, long, and satisfying life.
