This past weekend I overcame a few milestones! I went camping with and her family (Joy has an RV) , including her sister's family and her cousin's family. The last time I went camping with Joy was about 2 years ago.

Milestone #1: 2 years ago, I was much bigger than I am now. The worst part about the trip was using the restroom in the RV. The first time I used the RR, I came flying out of there like a cat out of water because the RR was so SMALL. The width of the RR was about the same as the width of my hips with my legs pressed together. When I sat on the toilet, my thighs were squeezed together so tightly that I could barely take care of things. This time, though, one of the first things I did upon walking into her RV was going into the RR to see if I was again going to feel suffocated. I sat down on the toilet, and.......... my thighs didn't even touch each other!!! The RR felt much bigger this time :-) I was able to use the RR with considerable ease and comfort the rest of the weekend.

Milestone #2: One of the beds in the RV is about 3 feet from the ceiling. The last time we went camping, I requested that Joy not put me in that bed. Not only was I nervous about fitting up there and being able to move around, but I was also unsure that I would even be able to pull myself up there b/c there really isn't an easy way to get up there. Well, this time, I had no choice but to sleep up there b/c Joy's sister and sister's husband were sleeping in the other "guest bed." Needless to say, I was very nervous about sleeping up there. After making my bed, Joy made me get up there to see if I felt like I would survive and be able to handle it, so I nervously made my way up to the bed. Not only did I not have any troubles climbing up there, but I also had plenty of room; I even had room to lie on my side with my head propped in my hand. I came to really like that cozy space.

Milestone #3: Joy's brother-in-law, Scott, really enjoys cooking meat on the grill, and steak is one of his specialties. Prior to my surgery, I had eaten Scott's steaks a couple times and loved the flavor of them. Since my surgery, I have been too scared to try steak, but this weekend, Scott cooked some of his famous steaks. I knew there was no way that I could pass up the opportunity to have a few bites of one of those steaks, so I decided to try it and take a chance that I might throw up or get sick... That steak was so GOOD, and I didn't get the slightest bit sick or quesy :-) I also ate some pork ribs cooked by Scott, which tasted really good. For breakfast, I ate some bacon and eggs, which also tasted really good.
