I weigh 185 pounds; I've lost a total of 44 pounds so far at about 2-1/2 months PO. My doctor said that I would lose 90 pounds in the first year, which means I am half way there. My goal weight is 122 pounds, so I NEED to lose a total of 107 pounds. I would like to at least reach my goal weight to see what it is like, but I don't think I would mind if I eventually ended up a few pounds heavier (~130).
I've discovered the secret to my losing weight faster... PROTEIN. On the days that I feel like I have eaten too much, I lose weight (as long as the food I've eaten is mostly protein and very little carbs). I have become a Nutrition Facts addict; I look at the NF on everything I buy. If it doesn't have enough protein, or has too much carbs and sugar, I don't buy it. Also, I've started making myself have protein snacks between meals. This seems to be what works for me. I'm still working on the protein drinks. I actually found protein drin that tastes pretty good: Sci Fit Fruit Punch Protein Twist (40g protein). Also, I bought the protein powder they put in smoothies at Smoothie King, but I'm still experimenting with that one. I tried Sci Fit beef jerky (1g carbs, 13g protein), but I didn't really like it; Isabella (my youngest neice) liked it, though. Quaker's Low Carb Rice Cakes are pretty good, and they are also a good source of protein. They only have 2 flavors right now- ranch and cheddar- but I'm hoping that they will make more soon. I wasn't impressed w/ Gen Soy chips, and they don't have enough protein for me to be willing to make myself eat them.
Today, I bought a new scale b/c the one I have is crummy. I bought the Weight Watchers Digital Scale with a Lifetime Lithium battery; it measures in .2 increments, which I really like.
My energy levels have been pretty good. There were a couple days last week where I was REALLY dragging. I think that was b/c I didn't get much sleep the weekend prior. So far this week, I've been doing well. I had to take a nap today, though b/c I stayed up late last night and didn't get as much sleep as I would like over the weekend (again). This coming weekend, I'm planning to get caught up on my school work and get some much need rest. The freakiest thing happened to me Wednesday night. I was sitting in my car at a a brightly lit gas station talking to Mom on my cell phone when this man in a white truck pulled up along side me. He kept staring at me while I was on the phone, so I kept giving him a look like, "What do you want?" Several times, he acted like he was going to just drive away, but he didn't and continued to stare at me. I finally got out of the car to put gas in my car, and I hung up w/ Mom to figure out what the guy wanted. I started saying to him:
"What do you want?" He shook his head as to say "Nothing"
"What? What do you want?" He shook his head again and acted like he was going to drive away but stayed instead.
"WHAT? Is there something wrong?" Finally he said "You're cute." at which point I turned away from him to fill up my car, and he drove away.
It was freaky b/c it was so late at night, and he was a much older man. I was not impressed to say the least. |
