How we got Engaged We�d just spent a lovely night out on our first anniversary together, and that�s when I knew that it wasn�t enough for me to refer to her as my girlfriend. I mentioned proposing to my mum, who said that I should get a move on. I decided to propose to her on her birthday. The biggest adventure of my life started when I pulled Stephen into the kitchen to ask him how he�d feel if I proposed to her. He thought it was a good idea, but called me back into the kitchen a few seconds later, to tell me that if I mess with his mum, I�m a dead man! I loosened my collar and then asked Carla the same. On the 19th November, I arranged to meet our friend, Lucy, to help me find an engagement ring. After hours of browsing, I hadn�t seen a ring that won me over. With my typical luck, I found the winner at the very last jewellers. Having bought the ring on the 19th, I had 11 days to practice my lines. Two days later, Sarah asked me if I knew that she loved me. I couldn�t wait any longer, so I went upstairs, had the quickest shave of my life, got my best suit on and set up the video camera.
