A DIFFERENT TYPE OF MINDFUCK TUMOUR is a well known band from The Netherlands to all those into disgusting and ultimately sick goregrind puke. This 7” EP comes out from a label specialized in this kind of stuffs. BOG did also a second (deluxe I’d say) edition of this release. The tunes herein are a bit old and they date back to 2001 (though the release was done lately), but who gives a fuck? This 7” really smacked my head with its ferocious intensity. The release contains 12 tracks in total (6 on each side) plus a TUMOUR flyer. Rogier (=TUMOUR) simply is a sick man. A thick cover 7” EP with black, yellow and green colours dominating the cover artwork showing the hands of a man in capture. Rudolph’s voice is like a screaming from the pit “Die Pigs, Die!”, Misiek grinds his guitar and bass as always and Mlody speeds his drums to make your senses collapse and your weak body to fall apart. Don’t you know guys this is one of my all time favs? Their part of the split entitled “Eat Shit & Die” is simply magnificent! Dede did an excellent artwork for LIVIDITY with several human parts hanging from ropes (hehehe-sick smiles!!) and Torch a great job in the inlay art.. Musically, what we have here is a small treasure: “Used, Abused and Left for Dead” and “Pussy Lover” recorded live at Central Illinois MetalFest August 13, 2004 featuring Matt Bishop on guitar and vokills. Especially the “Pussy Lover” version fearures also “Shawn LaCanne of the amazing PUTRID PILE on lead vokills (yes, he was a member of LIVIDITY for a while). “Suffocation By Shrinkwrap”, “Bled Like a Stuck Pig” and “Let’s Eat!!!” were recorded way back in 1995 in a 4 track recorder and show a more raw, primitive and grinding LIVIDITY angle. TERRORISM side is entitled “Feasting On Flesh” and shows a bloody massy face of death metal full of entrails and guts split out wide open. They sound very tight as a band. What a sinister, macabre, anti-religious piece of Art is this? The first thing to attract your attention is Jim Tsalos’ (aka Sgt. Vomitor) cover which can be compared only with Chris Moyen works. I am really proud that this artist comes from Hellas! The cover concept reminded me a bit of the BEHERIT artworks mixed with the early 90s death metal aura. The black and white colour combination is simply magnificent (no need for colour). An occult theme that is truly inspiring for me. Musically, the 7” is magnificent. Really beyond words. Side Nocturnal (Side A) includes the “Intro (Susperia)” and the “Putrid Grave Mass” track. Side Vomit (Side B) is covered with the “Temple of Impurity” song, both hymns to the unholy gods, to humanity, to nature. NOCTURNAL VOMIT show a more mature face here and spit on the cross with their old school death metal with some black essence. The back side cover executed again by Sgt. Vomitor is even sicker. Just see for yourselves. The inlay comes with photos, lyrics, thankslist and addresses just like in the old days and looks killer (like the old photocopied inlays written in the typewriter, remember?). I suggest you try find the limited edition red vinyl. This 7” is fuckin’ amazing and I believe that fans of INCANTATION and IMMOLATION to PROCLAMATION and BLACK WITCHERY will dig it. NUNSLAUGHTER is one of the most respected bands around and this is another fantastic release of theirs. Besides, here they are not alone. HAEEORRHAGE cover the other side. They may be not in the same cynical and unholy path like NUNSLAUGHTER, yet they are sick and gory and morbid death freaks. The NUNSLAUGHTER side is entitled “Cut God Out” and includes 2 songs of candles, sadism, depression and antireligious blasphemy. HAEMORRHAGE used 3 tracks here with brains, surgical madness and blood spilled all over the walls. I hope I am clear enough. All you can do is just give some money (anything you can and if you want) in the entrance to support them. Well, I go very often there and in fast I have even played with my noise act EGO DEATH. Them guys made a show the other day with SICKTERROR from Brazil! That’s where I got this (impossible to find in any other way in Greece) 7”. The show was amazing. SICKTERROR are politically aware, have messages to spread and grind violently like an early NAPALM DEATH mixture with hardcore/crossover stuffs plus Brazilian influences. A very good band you have to check out shoyld you be a grind fan. THE GENTLE ART OF CHOKIN’ from Germany managed to record 8 tracks for a single side. Does that say anything? I always dig that stuff. One way is to photograph a dark room, you’d say. Yes, but how can you capture the inner human darkness?? The answer was given from the Aussie lands by CRUCIFIRE. The moonbloodysorrowed tracks on both sides of this vinyl will show the way to release yourself. “Intro: The Dark Revelation”, “Realm of The Risen” and “Thy Curse Denied (Dark Soul’s Abyss)” are hymns to the esoteric. They are messages from the unearthly to the sorrowfilled ones. The second side ends with a MYSTIFIER cover to “Beelzebub”. CRUCIFIRE pay tribute in this way to the legendary classic Brazilian death metal era. They are evil, brutal, pounding and deathly. But personally, I think this is more than old school death/ black here. This is a channel for the pain, a cure for the sickminded and another nail in your chest. Will you dare? I admit I was a little sceptical though on what would their new spawn sound like. I am a vinyl collector, so when I saw “Monotheist” in a record store coming as a double LP, I had no hesitation. I picked it up. And I wasn’t wrong. The sick cover pulled me in when the needle hit the record. CELTIC FROST are not teens anymore. Also they are not glam rockers (so forget the “Cold Lake” era). They are more mature than ever in “Monotheist” giving the unsuspended masses a diamond put music. All the CELTIC FROST elements we loved from records-monuments like “To Megatherion” or “Into the Pandemonium” are here. The Swiss know how to create rotten riffs with slow emotional breaks. They embroidered the album with some atmospheric elements (they always had those) reminding me of film music or DEAD CAN DANCE. “Synagoga Satanae” is an epos that will shiver your spine. I also have to underline that every song of the album comes with liner notes, explanations to its concept. This is very interesting (at least to me). I had the chance to see the Gods live in Athens last summer and they were magnificent. They played slower than in their records! Martin Eric Ain was like a monk! Tom Gabriel Warrior was, is and will always be a dark frontman. In Athens they sounded great. Another thing is that I like very much the classical instruments they used in the record. CELTIC FROST are masters. Be sceptical no more. This reunion is a killer one.
