To play copies of Playstation 1 games you will need a modchip or what I personally use a Ps-X-Change 2 swap disc.
To play copies of Playstation 2 games or DVDs on a PS2 system you will need a modchip or what I personally use a fliptop or swapkey combined with Swap Magic Disc
Also if the game needs a fix for it to play it will be in the NOteS!! section. This doesn't mean it will need the fix. That depends on how updated your modchip or swap disc are.
