XLIX. Dido

(Queen of Carthage who killed herself after Aeneas deserted her.)

by Jeremy Wayne Couch

If I run this razor down my arm
will it cause you any harm
If I cut myself because of you
will it make your heart bleed, too

Did you know death lives in a kiss
Did you know pain thrives in bliss
Did you know it would hurt like this

But this is what I wanted
This is what I asked for
I left open the window
I left open the front door

I still taste your breath
I still feel your skin
I still taste your Heaven
I still feel our sin

If I run this razor down my arm
will it cause you any harm
If I cut myself because of you
will it make your heart bleed, too

I didn't know death lives in a kiss
I didn't know pain thrives in bliss
I didn't know it would hurt like this

But is this what I wanted
Is this what I asked for
When I left open the window
When I left open the front door
