Heating and Water System This home was designed to utilize passive and active solar energy. The horizontal gas fired forced air furnace is 100,000 BTU and is manufactured by Rheem. The furnace is located under the home for easy access. There are two thermostats to control the up and down stairs temperatures. This heating system is set up to accept an active solar system. A twelve hundred gallon solar storage tank has been installed if an active solar system is desired in the future. There are two hot water heaters located under the home for easy access. An Amway water treatment system is attached to the water line supplying water to the refrigerator ice-maker and water unit. An automatic water conditioner is installed for soft water. Lights have been installed under the home to allow for access at night. The home is completely insulated with R-13 and the floor with R-11 fiberglass batting. Roof and Exterior Siding The roof material is the "Woodlands" shingle by Johnsmanville and is class A fire resistant with a 35 year life. The dome siding is rough-sawn redwood. Decking There is over nineteen hundred square feet of redwood decking surrounding the home. There are two levels. The top deck surrounds the home 360 degrees, and the lower 180 degrees.
