"As mental health staff, we, together with those we serve, form the foundation of the system within which we work.  And, those of us who have the experience of walking both sides of the line, simultaneously staff and survivor, bring support to each other and a unique and valuable perspective to our work."

THE STAFF SURVIVOR'S NETWORK HAS CONCLUDED.
The Staff Survivor's Network began in Northampton, Massachusetts
during a time when there was little or no support for
individuals who identified both as working as mental health
staff and using mental health services.  The two founders,
Lee Shuer and Sera Davidow, were both working for local
mental health providers in non-peer-oriented roles that did
not generally welcome self-disclosure of their own lived
experiences.

However, over the years there have been many
changes!!  Lee now works for
ServiceNet, Inc. as a Peer
Specialist, overseeing and facilitating several recovery
supports and services.  Meanwhile, Sera is now a Co-Director
of the new
Western Mass Recovery Learning Community, a
project that is all about recognizing the wisdom of individuals
with lived experience and providing peer support to one
another!

Given that these new projects provide many of the same supports
that the SSN was intended to offer, and that both Sera and Lee's
time has, in large part, been absorbed by these endeavors, the
SSN has stopped meeting at this time.
