On our Own, Together (editor, Sally Clay)- Written by and for people who identify as consumers/survivors of the mental health system. 

Dante's Cure (Dr. Daniel Dorman)- Written by a psychiatrist who worked with a woman diagnosed with severe schizophrenia without medication and how they travelled the path to her recovery.  

Soteria:  Through Madness to Deliverance (Loren Mosher)- About a residence where individuals diagnosed with schiophrenia were treated by non-traditional means.

Wellness Recovery Action Plan and Peer Support (Mary Ellen Copeland and Shery Mead)- Addresses how the WRAP approach is enhanced by peer support.

The Loneliness Workbook (Mary Ellen Copeland)-  Addresses how to manage feelings of loneliness in the process of recovery and how to develop and maintain a support system.

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (Mary Ellen Copleland)-  Lays out the principles of the WRAP system, an approach used by many individuals with a variety of physical and emotional symptoms as a way to monitor symptoms, decrease frequency, and improve overall quality of life.

Trauma Informed Peer Support and Crisis Respite: A Training Manual (Shery Mead)-  Details the training offered by Shery Mead to programs building peer staff programs.

Navigating the Space Between Brilliance and Madness (The Icarus Project)- A compilation of materials from members of the Icarus Project (a consumer/survivor run group particularly for individuals labeled bipolar) including art, articles, journal entries, letters and more.

Community Mental Health: A Practical Guide (Loren Mosher, Lorenzo Burti)- Offers a critical review of the mental health system as well as information and ideas about alternatives. 

Mad in America: Bad Science, Bad Medicine, and The Enduring Mistreatment of the Mentally Ill (Robert Whitaker)- A critical review of American psychiatry and treatment of individuals labeled mentally ill.
Recovering Sanity (Dr. Edward M. Podvoll)- An exploration of the experience of psychosis and mental illness that challenges the idea that full recovery is not possible.  Available through the Windhorse website.
