AnimeFEST!2001 (Aug. 31 - Sept. 3, 2001)
09.01.01 ~ AnimeFEST!2001 was held during Labor Day weekend at Hotel Inter-Continental in Dallas, TX. A friend of mine, Michelle, was able to attend the con with me but we were unable to attend on the first day (again) due to me having school on Friday. We ended up going today, arriving at the hotel around 6 p.m. after dropping off our luggages. Since we pre-registered online, we went to pick up our passes but found out that it was already closed. We were told that registration closed at 7 p.m. and we got there at around 6:45 p.m. We weren't too happy with this since the band BOA was playing tonight. Without passes, we were unable to attend. A bit disappointed, we went out for dinner and hanged out for the remainder of the night.

09.02.01 ~ We got up early this morning and went back to the hotel to pick up our passes. We left at around 9:45 a.m., after breakfast at Denny's (we weren't in costumes this time ^_^), and finally got our passes! There weren't that many cosplayers, maybe because it was still a bit too early in the morning ^_^ We went to the dealer's room and I couldn't believe my eyes! I found the original Sailor Moon mangas in Japanese, vol. 1, 3-10, and 12-14, for a fair price. I immediately bought them which costed about $65 total ^_^;; Then I found the Sailor Moon Artbooks vol. 1 and 2, and the Material's Collection! Of course, I bought those 3 as well. I already spent about $150 on the first day. Scary...I know...
Around noon, we went back to our hotel and changed into our costumes. Michelle cosplayed as Kagome and I as Kikyou from the anime series Inu Yasha. There was a few difficulties with my Kikyou costume but that wasn't going to keep us from having fun. We headed back to Hotel Inter-Continentel and was surprised when people asked for our pictures! We really didn't know how/what to pose so it was a bit awkward at first. I was able to meet Kimberly's brother. He is an amazing artist and the three of us chatted for a bit. We decided to go to McDonald's for lunch, after we changed back to our more 'civilian' attires of course ^_^ After lunch, we headed back to the hotel, finding that Scott McNeil and Kirby Morrow was there for autographs!
