Project: A.kon12 (June 1-3, 2001)
06.01.01 - A.kon12 was held at the Westin and Sheraton Hotel in Park Central, Dallas, TX. My friend, Dayna, flew down from GA with her dad to attend the con with me. We were unable to attend on the first day due to flight difficulties, but we did make it on the second day ^_^ Dayna cosplayed as Meioh Setsuna from Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon (BSSM) and I cosplayed as...myself ^_^ (scary...) The hotel was packed! We saw numerous cosplayers roaming the halls and couldn't believe our eyes! It was heaven. Since we didn't pre-register for the passes, we had to wait in the long line ~_~ After at least 15 minutes of waiting, we finally got the passes and decided to check out the dealer's room. It was amazing how many people were in there, especially when the room wasn't exactly that big. Of course we bought ourselves memorabilias. That's the second main point of going to cons! ^_^ Outside of the dealer's room were tables set up by different artists. We were lucky to have met a very talented artist by the name of Diana X. Sprinkle. She has published her own mangas and designed many kawaii artworks for postcards and/or stationaries.
Time went by extremely fast. Before we knew it, it was already night time. We didn't have a chance to look around as much as we wanted to but the fun was just beginning. Dayna was able to contact the ones who are going to make her Mistress 9 costume and it so happened that they lived in the Dallas area. We got directions to their apartment and Dayna's dad was extremely nice to take us there, even though we arrived at the apartment at 1 a.m. We somewhat got lost ^_^;; Chris and Kimberly, owners of Wind and Sea Production, are really friendly. They were in the process of making their sera fukus for the next day at A.kon and we decided to stay and help them finish. We ended up spending the night there! Dayan's dad drove back to his hotel while we both helped Chris, Kimberly, and their 2 other guests, Amie and Catherine. We watched sera myus (Sailormoon Musicals) for the whole night and just had a blast! It was at 5 a.m. when we decided we all needed a break. We had planned to sleep till 9 and get back on working on the costumes, but we all woke up at around 11~ish instead.
