About two weeks after September 11, my sister and I made the trip to NYC. Even as I write this, two months later, my heart is heavy due to sorting through these pictures again.
A few of them.... the World Trade Center remains... the love letter... battery park... are, I feel, especially moving.
These NYC picture pages may take a while to load... but I think it is worth the time.
Battery
Park is closed off and is being used as a military base.

There is a hole in this view.
We shouldn't be able to see the damaged World Financial Center Building -- or so much sky...
The
remains of Building 4. It is now gone -- collapsed or demolished.
My
sister and I were exiting the Times Square Subway station when we
came upon yet another unofficial memorial to the missing.
Pictures from this station are also the background of this Sept
11 homepage.
At Times Square. A building-sized screen alternates Red Cross
and Cantor Fitzgerald relief info.
