The downtown casinos are very different from
those on the Strip. Big: yes... bright: yes... really cool and
modern: not so much. The Freemont Street Experience is for the
low-rollers, which is definitely us. We had buffet at the Golden
Nugget. That was an interesting experience because Nancy, the
pregnant vegetarian, found she really likes prime rib. So, little
Isoceles, brewing in her womb, got some enjoyment out of this
vacation.
The neon cowboy pictured to the
left obscures a small portion of the lighted Freemont Street
ceiling. There is a nightly show with lights. The gambling on
Freemont Street was OK -- two-deck blackjack was the norm. We
turned in early (probably midnight according to our body clocks).
We had cranked up the air conditioning, so it was nice to get
out of the heat of what was an 104 degree day!
