Glass Pool Inn and Going Home, Saturday, 26 May 2001

Glass Pool Inn SignWay at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard -- the Strip to those of us on the inside -- is the Glass Pool Inn. If you are familiar with 'The Vegas' than you will guess its approximate position relative to Mandalay Bay in the shot to the left. Anywho, during our previous visits, we have always admired the 'people aquarium' nature of that structure. On our way back from Hoover Dam and La Hacienda, we paid $5 so that Dan could jump in and pose for a picture. He also jumped in with Nancy's shirt, so we could both be soaking wet: the BEST way to enjoy the dry dry dry desert heat. "Dry dry dry dry," as Nancy would say.

After our swim and wet sunning, we headed up to Caesar's to eat some lunch and explore that casino and the Venetian. Nice!

As the afternoon wore on, we decided it would be good to catch some sleep, so we went back to the Plaza and slept until about 10:30 PM to catch our flight back to Detroit. The plan was to get up, go get some dinner, return the rental car and be to the airport by 1 AM or so to catch the red-eye. That plan was thwarted by the !@#$ parking ramp at Mandalay Bay. We drove in just to turn around and got caught for over an hour in the mass exodus. The people who designed that ramp should die of gonorrhea and rot in Hell. Fortunately, we did make it to the airport and board out late air-greyhound flight home. The experience trying to retrieve the luggage in Detroit is something we would like to forget.
