The Dark Council
Chapter Four

Sephiroth laughed in insanity. He had been dead far too long. He knew he'd return, he just did. He also knew that his buddy, Mark was still alive. Mark would make sure that Sephiroth, his old buddy, wasn't forgotten. Even if Sephy hadn't been to great to him after he left. No matter, Mark would come through for him as he always did. Sephiroth couldn't reach him in his dreams because his dreams were warded. Mark had always been afraid of witches invading his dreams and such. Sephiroth knew he'd return some how. If he didn't, he might as well go insane.
...Vincent shot a bullet at Mark's shoulder to stop the blow. But that didn't stop Mark. Unfortunatly, Cloud rolled out of the way to avoid the blow just in time. "You're right." Mark said suddenly. "He is not mine to kill, that is for Sephiroth." Then Mark turned and walked away, competly ignoring the wound on his shoulder, and the blood on his cloak. Vincent fired agian at Mark, but missed. On purpose. "No, Sephiroth will not come agian, even if he does, we will destroy him agian." said Vincent. Mark simply grinned to himself. "You are wrong, all of you." he said.
Rose and Andra hurried out of the inn, just in time to see Mark walk up to them. "You're hurt." obserbed Rose. "Never mind that, what happened?, I think we deserve some answers." said Andra. "I tried to kill Cloud only to realise that is for Sephiroth to do, not I." Mark replied. "Your wound?" Rose questioned. As if it was nothing at all, Mark waved his hand over his wound, and it was healed. Rose and Andra gasped. "Are you human?!" asked Rose. Mark said nothing, but lead them to Andra's plane. "You to ride in his plane, I'll take Magic." Mark gestured to his gold chocobo waiting patiently. Rose gasped "A gold chocobo!" Andra and Rose hopped into his plane, and Mark got on his cocobo. "Just head for the Ancient Forest, and do be quick about it! I'll meet you there."  Mark told the others.
"Are you ok Cloud?" questioned Tifa. "He is strong, he took me by surprise. And he acted as if he never felt Vincent's shot! I don't believe that guy! But I'm alright. Let's just hurry." Cloud replied. "Perhaps he didn't feel it. I think he'll be a very tough apponent. We must be cautious of him, I fear we will see his real power soon enough." Vincent said. Suddenly, Yuffie came bounding out of the Highwind. "Hurry up you guys! Cid can't wait forever! Hey! Vincent you're back!" They all climbed into the Highwind and took off.
Aeris knew the odds were agianst them, but she still believed. "If they don't figure it out soon, it'll be to late." she tought. She sat alone in darkness. She refused to go all the way to heaven, she liked to wait. Suddenly, a voice filled the silence. It was an evil voice, it was Sephiroth. "What a pity. You sit here and wait. Pathetic. You know that I have already told the girl exactly where to find it, and she told Mark. They are on their way now. Aeris." he said. "Cloud is following them. He'll get it before them. The Highwind's faster." Aeris argued. "Yes, but who is stronger? There will be a fight. Someone will die. You know Cloud is not strong enough." Sephiroth sneered "He has the Knights of the Round on his side! He can't lose! He destroyed you!" Aeris cryed. "Hahahahaha, you fool! You really believe that you will live agian? Your boyfriend Cloud doesn't even have a clue to the secret words, nor do you! So you can't tell them!" Sephiroth laughed. "You don't know either! Don't laugh like that." Aeris cryed. "Haahaha you are a fool! Mark has an army behind him, AND he knows how to discover the words. If you wait any longer, heaven won't take you. Hahaha!!" Sephiroth laughed agian, then his voice disappeared from the room. Aeris sat in darkness agian. "I believe in you Cloud. CLOUD!!!!" Aeris cryed. Tears began to roll down her face...
Inside the Crater, burried beneath layers of water and sand, lay Sephiroth's body. Even dead, he looked beautiful. His body still had not decomposed, even after a year. Something so evil, the world would not let become apart of it agian. Sephiroth's body would never be accepted. So, instead it sits at the bottom of the Crater. Awaiting re-birth. His eyes closed, as if in a deep sleep, his hair flowing in the water, his body still in it's human form. Nothing missing. A perfect body. Dead. Waiting.
Mark raced Magic to his full potential. Magic had been quite possibly the fastest chocobo ever. Mark had payed a high price for him. Now, his racing skills were to be put to the test. Only one other chocobo was faster, Gold. Cloud's chocobo. Of course. Cloud was alawys better than everyone, exept that he didn't get into SOLIDER. Mark laughed as the wind pulled at his hair. He had never had so much fun since Sephiroth was alive. Yes he was having fun, racing with Cloud. A fight for a common treasure. Heh, Mark thought it was funny, Cloud thinking he actually had a chance. Even if Cloud wasn't entirely human, neither was Mark. Mark was really an experiment, quite like Sephiroth. They did grow up together. The two experiments. He smilled at the thought. Then frowned when he remembered that Cloud and his buddies were following. He urged Magic into a faster pace.
Cloud had Cid flying very fast. Cloud was lost in thought, he knew that Mark was familiar, but he didn't know. He had know idea what Mark's deal was anyway. Who was he? He just showed up one day, wanting to revive Sephiroth. "Sir" a pilot approached Cloud. "We have succesfully reached the Ancient Forest." Cloud looked out the window and saw that they were landed right were WEAPON had fallen. Cloud got up and left the Highwind. Tifa, Yuffie, Vincent, and Cid were waiting outside for him. They all started walking up the ledge to the Forest. Cid in the lead. "What the...." Cid's sentence was never finished because Cloud saw it with his own eyes, people, soliders of some sort. Lots of them, like 30 or so. Mark's army. They weren't human either. They were maybe, but not now. They were gaurding the Forest's entrance. "I guess we have to fight them.." Cloud said. He raised his sword.
